Role & responsibilities:

A. Quality Management System & ISO/IEC 17025 (NABL/BIS and other Client Requirements)

- Lead implementation, maintenance and continual improvement of the laboratory QMS in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025:2017.
- Ensure that quality policies, procedures, work instructions, forms, records and technical documents are effectively implemented and periodically reviewed.
- Ensure compliance with applicable Intertek policies, procedures and global quality requirements.
- Monitor effectiveness of the QMS through defined quality KPIs and management reporting.
- Identify gaps in the management system and drive timely corrective actions.
- Ensure document and record control, including control of obsolete documents and retention of quality records.
- Promote risk-based thinking and preventive approaches throughout laboratory operations.

B. Technical Quality Assurance

- Ensure the technical validity and reliability of laboratory test results.
- Monitor implementation of approved test methods, standards, specifications and customer protocols.
- Ensure that the latest applicable versions of relevant international/national standards are available and controlled.
- Review technical risks associated with environmental and biodegradability testing.
- Ensure appropriate method validation/verification, measurement uncertainty evaluation, quality control and method performance monitoring.
- Ensure traceability of measurements and appropriate calibration/verification of equipment.
- Provide quality oversight for introduction of new test methods, equipment, technologies and laboratory services.
- Work closely with Technical Managers to resolve technical quality issues and recurring test-result concerns.

C. Quality Control & Laboratory Performance

- Establish and monitor laboratory quality indicators, including Testing errors
- Report revisions / Reworks
- Turnaround time
- Complaints / CAPA
- Non-conforming work
- PT/ILC performance
- Equipment failures
- Method deviations
- CAPA effectiveness

D. Audit Management

- Develop and implement an annual internal audit program covering the complete laboratory QMS and technical activities.
- Lead/coordinate internal audits and ensure auditor competence and independence.
- Conduct process and compliance audits across laboratory functions.
- Coordinate customer, regulatory, NABL and Intertek internal/external audits.
- Track audit findings through closure and verify effectiveness.
- Develop audit-readiness program for critical customers and accreditation assessments.

E. Equipment,



Calibration & Measurement Assurance

- Ensure all critical laboratory equipment is identified and maintained under an effective calibration/verification program.
- Monitor calibration schedules and prevent use of equipment beyond its validity period.
- Ensure appropriate traceability of measurements.
- Review equipment breakdowns, calibration failures and their potential impact on test results.
- Ensure preventive maintenance and performance verification program are implemented.
- Maintain appropriate reference materials, standards and control samples.

F. Workplace & Biodegradability Laboratory Quality

- Establish quality controls specific to environmental and biodegradability testing.
- Ensure appropriate controls for sample receipt, identification, preparation, storage, testing and disposal.
- Monitor critical environmental conditions and laboratory parameters affecting test validity.
- Ensure appropriate controls for reference materials, cultures, reagents, chemicals and consumables where applicable.
- Ensure contamination-control practices and laboratory hygiene requirements are effectively implemented where relevant to the testing activities.
- Ensure technical records provide complete traceability from sample receipt through test execution, review and report issuance.
- Support quality evaluation of new environmental, sustainability and biodegradability testing services.

G. Training & Competence

- Establish competency requirements for Quality, Technical and Laboratory personnel.
- Develop annual quality and competency training plans.
- Ensure induction, technical, QMS, refresher and method-specific training is completed.
- Establish competency assessment program for laboratory personnel.
- Monitor effectiveness of training and competency evaluations.
- Develop internal quality awareness program to strengthen a "Quality First" culture.

H. Management Review & Quality Reporting

- Coordinate and support Management Review Meetings as required under ISO/IEC 17025.
- Prepare quality performance reports and management dashboards.
- Present trends, risks, complaints, audit findings, CAPA,



PT/ILC performance and improvement opportunities to management.
- Ensure management actions arising from reviews are tracked to effective closure.
- Drive the laboratory towards a zero-defect, right-first time and customer-focused culture.

We are Looking for You with

EDUCATION:

- Master's / bachelors degree in environmental science, Environmental Engineering, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Life Sciences or a relevant scientific/technical discipline.
- Qualification relevant to the laboratory's environmental and biodegradability testing scope will be preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

- Minimum 4-5 years of relevant laboratory/quality experience, preferably with significant experience in an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratory.
- Experience in leading Quality Assurance/QMS functions.
- Strong experience in NABL accreditation, BIS Certification, audits and assessment management.
- Experience in environmental, chemical, microbiological, biodegradability or sustainability testing laboratories will be preferred.
- Experience managing customer audits and technical quality escalations.

Experience in managing and developing Quality teams
