About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Hypervisor Automation Engineer to design and build scalable infrastructure automation frameworks for hypervisor hosts and guest VMs.The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on production experience with VMware ESXi or KVM-based platforms, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), bare-metal provisioning, networking, storage automation, and hypervisor-native APIs.

This role involves managing infrastructure at scale, from bare-metal bootstrap to host configuration, VM provisioning, and lifecycle management.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and contribute extensively to automation frameworks for configuring hypervisor hosts and guest VMs at scale.
- Automate workflows from bare-metal provisioning to host and VM configuration.
- Develop VM and image lifecycle management automation.
- Build and maintain declarative, idempotent infrastructure automation.
- Integrate hypervisor-native APIs and CLIs into automation workflows.
- Design and implement networking and storage automation.
- Apply testing, validation, dry-run, and plan-before-apply practices.
- Contribute to architecture decisions and explain technical design choices.
- Support large-scale infrastructure environments with 100s–1000s of hypervisor hosts.

Mandatory Skills
1. Hypervisor Experience
Hands-on production experience with either:VMware ESXi / vSphere, vROps, vSphere APIs, PowerCLI, etc.

- KVM-based platforms such as Proxmox, oVirt, OpenStack, Morpheus, or libvirt-based environments.
- Experience managing and setting up hypervisor hosts at scale is essential.

Infrastructure as Code (IaC)Declarative or idempotent automation approaches.

- Terraform, Ansible, or equivalent tooling.
- Hypervisor-native APIs and CLIs.
- Git repositories, modules, environments, and state management.
- Drift detection, reconciliation, testing, and dry-run discipline.

3. Bare-Metal & Hardware AutomationPXE / iPXE boot automation.

- Kickstart or Autoinstall files.
- Redfish APIs and/or HPE iLO, Dell iDRAC, or equivalent BMC technologies.
- Firmware and BIOS configuration through APIs.

4. Networking & Storage AutomationvSwitch / Distributed Switch, Linux Bridge, or Open vSwitch (OVS).

- VLAN and/or VXLAN automation.
- Storage provisioning using datastores, LVM, ZFS, Ceph, or equivalent technologies.

5. Scale & ArchitectureExperience managing 100+ hypervisor hosts.

- Ability to design, explain, and defend automation architecture decisions.
- Robust understanding of how hypervisor automation workflows are built and operated.

Preferred Skills

- OpenStack / oVirt / libvirt.
- Python / Go / PowerShell.
- VM lifecycle automation.
- Drift detection and reconciliation.
- Hypervisor API programming.
- Technical architecture and infrastructure design experience.
