Role & responsibilities
- Assessments: Conduct physical exams, take detailed medical histories, and perform admission physicals. [1, 2]
- Rounds: Perform daily inpatient and outpatient dialysis rounds, tracking clinical markers like fluid balance, lab trends, and adequacy of dialysis. [1, 2, 3]
- Diagnostics: Order and interpret laboratory tests (CBC, comprehensive metabolic panels, bone/mineral metabolism labs) and imaging studies. [1, 2, 3]
- Treatment Planning: Formulate, document, and adjust medical treatment plans, including prescribing medications, dialysis prescriptions, and nutritional support. [1, 2, 3]
- Team-oriented Care: Consult with attending nephrologists, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes. [1, 2, 3]
- Discharge & Follow-Up: Manage discharge summaries, prescriptions, patient education, and post-surgical or outpatient follow-up care
