As a Lead Engineer, you'll lead a team of engineers while designing, building, and scaling the core Amex GBT mid and back-office systems that power billing, invoicing, and reconciliation for a global travel business. We're looking for someone innovative, who combines robust hands-on engineering with the ability to lead a team and see the bigger picture.

What You'll Do
Lead, mentor, and manage a team of engineers, setting technical direction and reviewing code and design
Design, code, and implement backend solutions from concept to final hand-off, using Java and Spring Boot for high-volume billing and reconciliation workflows
Build and maintain front-end interfaces and internal tools using React JS
Architect and deploy cloud-native services on AWS and Kubernetes
Estimate technical effort,



work breakdown structure, risks, and dependencies for your team's roadmap
Analyze and resolve complex technical and production issues across the platform
Establish and promote engineering design guidelines, coding standards, and best practices
Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and other partners, including code and design reviews
Experiment with current and emerging technologies, including applying AI to improve automation, data processing, and engineering productivity

What We're Looking For
8+ years of software engineering experience, including experience leading or mentoring a team of engineers
Solid hands-on expertise in Java and Spring Boot for building scalable, enterprise-grade backend services
Experience building modern front-end applications using React JS
Solid experience with PostgreSQL, including schema design and query optimization for transactional systems
