Software Development Engineer 4 - C++
Summary of the Role
In this role, you will design and build high‐performance C++ services for cloud‐native, distributed applications running on Linux. You will own components end‐to‐end—from design and implementation to deployment and operations—with a strong focus on reliability, security, observability, and performance. You will collaborate with cross‐functional engineering teams and contribute to platform‐level technical excellence.
In This Role You'll / Your Main Responsibilities
Design, develop, and optimize C++17/20 services, microservices, libraries, and system daemons for Linux and Kubernetes environments.
Apply distributed‐systems concepts (e.g., consensus, replication, sharding, eventual consistency) and implement secure, fault‐tolerant, and scalable communication using gRPC/REST and messaging systems.
Profile, debug, and tune performance using tools such as perf, Valgrind, and flame graphs; build CI/CD‐ready, testable, thread‐safe, memory‐efficient code.
Implement observability (metrics, logs, traces) using Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry; collaborate with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) / DevOps teams on deployments, capacity planning, and incident response.
Create design documents, RFCs, and clear technical documentation; mentor peers through code reviews and knowledge sharing.
About the Ideal Candidate
5–10 years of hands‐on modern C++ development on Linux, with strong understanding of OS internals, networking, concurrency, and asynchronous programming.
Experience building distributed systems, event‐driven architectures, microservices, and cloud‐native workloads using Docker and Kubernetes.
Solid database knowledge: schema design, performance tuning, high availability/disaster recovery (HA/DR), and experience with relational (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and NoSQL stores (Redis/Cassandra).
Familiarity with secure coding, secrets management,



authentication/authorization, TLS/mTLS, and compliance considerations (e.g., SOC 2, ISO *****).
Skilled with Git, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, observability tooling, and able to communicate clearly, solve complex problems, and take ownership of outcomes.
