Job Description: Technical Delivery Leader - Payments & Fintech Consulting

Bring hands-on knowledge of Data Engineering, AI/ML delivery, and payments infrastructure. Mentor delivery teams, build bench capacity, and foster consulting excellence. A trusted advisor to clients, champion for your teams, and owner of firm economics.

Role Overview
Lead consulting engagements for a fast-growing fintech/payment consulting firm. Own end-to-end delivery of complex, multi-year client projects across Fixed Price (FP), Time & Materials (T&M;), and Outcome-based models.
Manage project portfolios, lead cross-functional teams (engineers, architects, data scientists), drive client success, and ensure profitability.
Requires deep technical credibility in payments infrastructure, database systems, AI/ML integration, regulatory compliance, and consulting delivery methodology.

Key Responsibilities

Client Delivery & Project Management
Own delivery and commercial success of 2- 4 concurrent engagements; manage $2M-$10M+ project portfolios
Drive project scoping, estimation, and resource planning; manage change orders and scope creep
Establish SOWs, success criteria, and delivery roadmaps; communicate status through executive-level reporting
Own P&L; accountability; monitor utilization, billing, and profitability metrics
Lead production deployments and handoff to client operations teams

Technical Leadership
Lead technical strategy for payments/fintech infrastructure projects (migrations, API modernization,



compliance automation)
Own delivery of database architecture initiatives (schema design, data modeling, large-scale migrations)
Lead AI/ML and automation projects (fraud detection, risk scoring, ML ops, agentic workflows)
Write technical specifications, acceptance criteria, and implementation guides
Advise clients on architecture trade-offs, technology selection, and compliance requirements

Consulting Delivery Excellence
Establish and enforce consulting delivery methodology (agile, waterfall, hybrid) tailored to engagement model
Define project intake, scoping, risk management, and QA standards
Create playbooks for data migrations, system integrations, platform implementations, and AI/ML pilots
Track schedule, budget, and resources; escalating risks and propose mitigation strategies

Resource & Client Management
Recruit, develop, and mentor delivery managers and technical leads
Allocate resources across project portfolio; build bench capacity
Serve as primary point of contact for client C-suite; conduct steering committees and executive briefings
Build long-term client relationships; identify expansion and upsell opportunities
Ensure regulatory compliance (PCI-DSS, AML/KYC, OFAC, GDPR, SOC 2) is embedded in delivery

Required Qualifications
12+ years of consulting delivery leadership or project management (fintech/payments, enterprise software preferred)
Proven track record managing multiple concurrent engagements with FP, T&M;, and outcome-based billing models
Deep database expertise: Schema design, query optimization, data modeling,



large-scale migrations (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, NoSQL); SQL proficiency required
AI/ML project delivery: Led production delivery of AI/ML initiatives (fraud detection, risk scoring, ML pipelines, LLMs)
Consulting delivery methodology: Mastery of scoping, estimation, risk management, change control
Project management tools: Expert in Jira, Azure DevOps, Monday.com, or equivalent
Technical depth: APIs, system integrations, data pipelines, payment platforms, architecture trade-offs
Fintech/Payments domain knowledge: Payment rails, settlement, compliance, tokenization, AML/KYC
Regulatory expertise: PCI-DSS, AML/KYC, OFAC, GDPR, SOC 2, banking regulations
Client-facing leadership: Excellent communication, executive presence, C-suite relationship management
Team leadership: Experience recruiting, developing, and retaining delivery professionals

Preferred Qualifications
IT Services / Consulting firm background
Outcome-based delivery expertise with measurable ROI/KPIs
Vendor/delivery partner management and subcontractor coordination
RFP responses and solution design contributions
Distributed team management across geographies
PMP, PRINCE2, or CSM certification
LLM applications, RAG systems, or agentic AI frameworks in production
Fraud detection, risk modeling, or financial crime prevention knowledge
Cloud infrastructure projects (AWS, Azure, GCP) at scale
Event-driven or stream processing architectures (Kafka, Pub/Sub)
