Bytebeam builds the hardware and software stacks that power the next generation of smart connected vehicles. From device telemetry and remote diagnostics to OTA updates, alerts, and fleet-scale device management, Bytebeam helps teams ship connected products faster and operate them reliably in the field.

This internship is a chance to do real embedded work on devices that ship in vehicles, not throwaway exercises. You will sit with the firmware team and learn how production firmware actually gets built, debugged, and released.

Role Overview

We are hiring Firmware Engineering Interns to work alongside our firmware team on automotive telematics devices. You will take on scoped firmware tasks, write and test code on real hardware, and learn the full embedded workflow under close mentorship from the Firmware Tech Lead and senior engineers.

We are looking for students or recent graduates who already enjoy embedded programming and want to go deep on real products.

What You'll Do

- Write and test small, scoped firmware modules in C/C++ on microcontroller hardware, with mentorship.
- Help bring up and test peripherals (sensors, GNSS, BLE, serial interfaces) on development boards.
- Build test scripts, fixtures, or tools that help the firmware team move faster.
- Use lab equipment (multimeter, oscilloscope, logic analyzer) to observe and debug device behavior.
- Help reproduce and document bugs, and verify fixes.
- Learn and follow the team's version control,



code-review, and coding-standard practices.

Must-Have Skills
- Pursuing or recently completed a B.E./B.Tech in ECE, EEE, CS, or related
- Working knowledge of C (and ideally C++), and basic embedded fundamentals (microcontrollers, GPIO, interrupts)
- Familiarity with at least one embedded interface (UART, SPI, or I2C) from coursework or projects
- Curiosity, willingness to learn, and care for getting things right
- Available for a full-time, on-site internship

Good-to-Have (Strong Plus)
- Hands-on hobby or academic projects with Arduino, STM32, ESP32, Raspberry Pi, or similar
- Exposure to RTOS concepts, Git, or Linux
- Any experience with sensors, CAN, GNSS, or wireless modules
- Basic scripting (Python) for tooling and test
- Interest in automotive / IoT / connected devices

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for interns who light up around hardware and code — the kind who already have a drawer of dev boards and a few half-finished projects. You do not need professional experience; you need fundamentals, curiosity, and the persistence to debug something until it works. Strong interns here have a explicit path to a full-time Firmware Engineer role.
