Position Summary

The Lead Estimator is responsible for preparing, reviewing, and reconciling cost estimates - including lump sum, unit rate, and cost-plus formats - across the project lifecycle, from early conceptual planning through final design. This individual leads conceptual estimating, cost analysis, and the coordination and consolidation of estimates from multiple disciplines and sources. Estimator translates design scope into accurate quantities and costs, Construction Bid Breakdown (Bill of Quantity-BOQ), evaluates productivity and risk to develop sound contingency and escalation figures, and maintains the historical cost data that underpins the organization's estimating accuracy over time.

This is an individual contributor role with no supervisory responsibilities; success depends on technical rigor, cross-functional coordination, and transparent communication of cost information to project stakeholders and management.

The estimator ensures estimates are accurate, well-documented, delivered on schedule, and consistent with company standards and methodology.

This is a role requiring strong technical estimating capability across multiple disciplines (civil/structural, Piping, Mechanical, Electrical, Equipment) combined with the ability to work with a team of estimators working across time zones.

Key Responsibilities

- Review design scope and Prepare quantity takeoffs from drawings (P&IDs;, Plot Plan, etc.) specifications, and models across Piping & Instruments, HVAC, mechanical, electrical, scope.

· Perform productivity analysis of estimates to validate labor and equipment assumptions.

- Develop labor hour estimates, material costs, and equipment pricing using company databases, vendor quotes, and published cost references (RSMeans, regional labor rate data,



historical project data)
- Build cost estimates at varying levels of detail - conceptual/budgetary (Class 4-5) through detailed/bid-level (Class 1-2) - depending on project phase
- Incorporate subcontractor and vendor quotes into estimates; identify and flag scope gaps or clarifications needed
- Maintain and improve estimating templates, checklists, and standard workflows
- Ensure consistency in estimate formatting, backup documentation, and assumptions logs across the team members

Continuous Improvement

- Contribute to and help maintain the company's historical cost database
- Identify opportunities to improve estimating efficiency, accuracy, and turnaround time
- Stay current on regional cost trends, material pricing, and labor market conditions across the company's active project geographies
- Engage in teaching and learning activities that improve the estimating team

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related field
- Minimum 5-10 years of progressive experience in Piping / Electrical / Instrumentation MTO and Quantity take-offs, Construction quantity and cost estimating, EPC estimating
- Demonstrated experience estimating across multiple disciplines (civil/structural, mechanical, electrical, Instrumentation) for data centers, industrial, municipal, or commercial construction projects
- Strong working knowledge of quantity takeoff methods, unit pricing, labor productivity rates,



and cost estimating software (e.g., Aspen Capital Cost Estimating (ACCE), On-Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam, Sage Estimating, or similar)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel at an advanced level; familiarity with estimating databases and cost references (RSMeans or equivalent)

· Estimating software (e.g., ACCE, Sage Estimating, CostOS, or equivalent).

- Strong written and spoken English communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical content clearly to U.S.-based colleagues and clients
- Experience working in a global/distributed team environment, with overlap into U.S. business hours as required

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with Bluebeam /BIM-based takeoff tools or 3D model-based quantity extraction
- Experience specifically with data center, water/wastewater treatment, industrial process, or heavy civil project estimating
- Familiarity with U.S. construction market conditions, labor rate structures (union vs. open shop), and regional cost variation
- Professional certification (e.g., AACE International Certified Cost Professional (CCP) or Certified Estimating Professional (CEP), ASPE Certified Professional Estimator (CPE), RICS, or equivalent quantity surveying credential)
