Job Summary

The Middle Years Programme (MYP) Teacher plays a key role in fostering an engaging, inquiry-driven, and concept-based learning environment that supports students aged 11–16 in becoming active, compassionate, and lifelong learners. Rooted in the IB philosophy, the teacher designs learning experiences that promote critical thinking, global awareness, and interdisciplinary connections.

The MYP teacher encourages students to make meaningful links between their studies and the real world, while developing the Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills that empower them as independent, reflective learners.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

- Plan and deliver concept-driven, inquiry-based lessons aligned with MYP subject-group objectives and assessment criteria.
- Integrate global contexts and real-world applications to promote relevance and engagement in learning.
- Design learning experiences that develop students’ Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills—thinking, communication, research, self-management, and social skills.
- Use a range of formative and summative assessments to evaluate and support student progress against MYP criteria.
- Encourage interdisciplinary connections and participate in collaborative unit planning with other subject teachers.
- Create a classroom culture that values diversity, academic honesty, and respect,



reflecting the IB Learner Profile attributes.
- Guide students in developing their personal projects, service learning, and reflections as part of the MYP framework.
- Collaborate with the MYP Coordinator and teaching team to ensure vertical and horizontal curriculum alignment.
- Maintain open, qualified communication with parents and students regarding learning goals, progress, and achievements.
- Engage in continuous professional growth through IB training, workshops, and reflective practice.

Education Requirements:

- Bachelor’s degree in the relevant subject area or in Education from a recognized institution.
- Training or familiarity with concept-based and inquiry-driven teaching methodologies.
- Strong understanding of the MYP philosophy, framework, and assessment principles.

Experience Requirements:

- Minimum 3 years of teaching experience in an MYP or inquiry-based, international learning environment.
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement concept-based and interdisciplinary units.
- Proficiency in MYP assessment design, moderation, and reporting.
- Skilled in fostering critical thinking, collaboration, and reflection among students.
- Effective communicator and team collaborator with a passion for holistic, student-centered education.
