Role Summary:

The Manager, AI Development (Ferguson India) will lead and grow a team of AI/ML engineers, data architects, and technical specialists supporting Ferguson's AI initiatives. This role combines hands-on technical leadership with people management, operating across a hybrid-cloud environment with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) as the primary hyperscaler and Azure supporting hybrid workloads and legacy integrations. The Manager will work to accelerate the delivery of secure, reliable, AI initiatives and solutions.

Reporting to the Sr. Manager, AI Technology and Innovation, this managerial position will collaborate closely with IT leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to modernize technology platforms, improve engineering efficiency, and enable teams to move rapidly from experimentation to production while delivering measurable business value.

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of AI/ML engineers, data architects, and technical specialists.
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of AI developers in the India office, providing technical direction, career development, and performance management.
- Establish and formalize team structure, roles, and workflows for a group that has been operating without dedicated management, bringing consistency to development practices and reporting lines.
- Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews,



and skill-development planning to build technical depth and retain talent within the team.
- Recruit, interview, and onboard additional AI development talent as the team scales.
- Remain hands-on in the codebase designing, developing, and reviewing AI/ML models, pipelines, and integrations alongside the team.
- Set technical standards and best practices for model development, testing, deployment, and version control. Agentic AI
- Be a part of architecting and guiding the design of AI solutions, ensuring alignment with broader company technology strategy.
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues and provide escalation support for production AI systems.
- Ensure compliance with data security, privacy, and governance policies across AI systems.
- Drive continuous improvement in development velocity, code quality, and deployment reliability.
- Provide regular status updates and reporting to senior leadership on team output, platform health, and project milestones.

- Hires, coaches, and evaluates associates, their performance and implements corrective action as necessary.
- Works closely with all other IT management personnel in identifying, evaluating, selecting,



and implementing specific information technologies that support the business plans and IT strategies.
- Maintains a strong understanding of technology and its application to achieve IT and business objectives.

Qualifications and Requirements:

- Bachelors degree in information technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field with a minimum of five (5) years of experience.
- Must have prior experience directly leading engineering or technical talent, including performance management and career development for direct reports; experience with offshore/onsite consultants preferred.
- Must have direct experience in software programming with Java and/or Python, along with Software Architecture and Engineering expertise.
- Solid understanding and experience implementing software design patterns and modern standards.
- Experience with working with AI/ML in platforms like Google Cloud Platform (GCP) , AWS, or other platforms.
- Experience with database technologies, both relational (SQL) PostgreSQL and non-relational (NoSQL), for AI/ML data storage and retrieval.
- Must be a hands-on software engineer able to work alongside a cross-functional team of software engineers, software architects, data scientists, and software quality engineers as needed.
- Demonstrates high aptitude, initiative, and self-drive proactively finds opportunities to improve the platform and data science tooling rather than waiting for direction, and leads technical work hands-on rather than purely delegating.
- Solid leadership and interpersonal relationship building skills.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders and senior leadership.
- Requires giving and/or receiving verbal communication.
