Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and efficient Commis 1 to join our culinary team in Mysuru, India. As a Commis 1 specializing in Indian Cuisine, you will work under the guidance of senior kitchen staff to prepare ingredients, assist in cooking, and maintain the highest standards of food quality and kitchen organization. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your culinary skills in an organized, collaborative kitchen environment while working with authentic Indian cooking techniques and traditional ingredients.

- Prepare and cut vegetables, meats, and other ingredients according to standardized recipes and specifications
- Assist in the preparation of Indian dishes, including curries, breads, rice preparations, and traditional specialties
- Maintain proper mise en place at your assigned station, ensuring all ingredients and tools are organized and readily available
- Follow food safety and hygiene protocols consistently, including proper storage, handling, and sanitation practices
- Support senior chefs in cooking and plating dishes while maintaining quality and presentation standards
- Monitor cooking times and temperatures to ensure dishes are prepared correctly




- Assist in inventory management and report on ingredient usage and stock levels
- Collaborate effectively with kitchen team members to ensure smooth operations during service
- Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, workstations, and utensils according to established procedures
- Learn and adapt to kitchen procedures, recipes, and techniques under supervision

Qualifications

- Proficiency in basic knife skills and food preparation techniques
- Knowledge of Indian cooking methods, spices, and flavor profiles
- Understanding of food safety and hygiene standards
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Solid organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent teamwork and communication abilities
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks
- Preferred: Previous experience working in a professional kitchen or culinary training
- Preferred: Familiarity with traditional Indian cooking equipment and techniques
- Preferred: Experience with regional Indian cuisine and local ingredient sourcing
