About the Role

We are looking for an ambitious, experienced, and solution-oriented Senior Yugabyte Specialist with deep expertise in YugabyteDB. You will be an integral part of the product and platform development team, collaborating across multiple teams to deliver high-quality, highly scalable products that serve a large, distributed user base.

Key Responsibilities

- Scalable Feature Engineering: Design and develop product features delivered at massive scale, supporting high request volumes with strong performance and reliability.
- Database Ownership: Take complete ownership of business-driven data management within the primary live YugabyteDB environment.
- Optimization: Identify gaps and optimize database usage across the product suite.
- Infrastructure Collaboration: Partner with Infrastructure teams to maintain database clusters and stabilize/scale database infrastructure across the organization.
- Technical Leadership: Occasionally lead cross-team projects, review peers' code and system designs, and uphold engineering best practices.
- Team Growth: Contribute to hiring, onboarding,



and mentoring team members.

Requirements

- Backend & System Experience: 6+ years of medium to large-scale server-side software development experience with databases, distributed systems, and microservices architecture.
- Database Expertise: Proven experience operating YugabyteDB at scale in a distributed setup.
- Programming Languages: Proficiency in backend languages—Java or Clojure—in a production environment.
- Computer Science Foundations: In-depth knowledge of data structures, algorithmic time complexity, and experience architecting complex, scalable systems.
- Benchmarking & Systems: Experience benchmarking systems for performance/failure detection, alongside proficiency in POSIX-compliant OS (macOS/Linux) and CLI tools.
- Education & Soft Skills: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (or equivalent), excellent problem-solving ability, solid communication skills, and experience mentoring peers.

Nice to Have

- Functional Programming: Strong knowledge of functional programming principles, particularly in Clojure.
- Project Management: Exposure to project management workflows and tools.
