Data Replication Engineer

Description: Administer and support IBM Infosphere Data Replication (IIDR) CDC environments across Development, QA, UAT, and Production landscapes.
Manage end-to-end replication configurations including source capture agents, target subscriptions, replication mappings, and maintenance activities.
Monitor replication latency, throughput, queue utilization, and system performance to ensure SLA adherence.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex replication failures, subscription issues, data synchronization problems, and connectivity errors.
Perform root cause analysis for production incidents and implement permanent corrective actions.
Configure, maintain, and support DB2 LUW, DB2W, and DB2U environments that participate in replication solutions.
Implement and manage replication for high-volume transactional databases with minimal business impact.
Support Kafka integration with IIDR for real-time event streaming and data distribution requirements.
Monitor Kafka producers, consumers, brokers, topics, partitions, and replication factors to ensure platform reliability.
Perform database performance analysis and tuning related to CDC workloads and replication processing.
Coordinate platform upgrades, fix pack installations, security patches, and environment refresh activities.
Validate replication integrity after maintenance activities, migrations, and release deployments.
Manage user access, authentication mechanisms, and security controls in compliance with enterprise standards.




Develop and maintain operational runbooks, troubleshooting guides, support documentation, and knowledge repositories.
Collaborate with application development teams for onboarding new replication requirements and change requests.
Participate in disaster recovery testing, failover exercises, and business continuity planning activities.
Analyze infrastructure capacity requirements and recommend scaling strategies for replication platforms.
Automate operational tasks using scripting and administrative tools wherever applicable.
Work closely with IBM support and vendor teams to resolve product-related issues and implement recommended solutions.
Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to junior team members and support engineers.
Participate in on-call support rotations and manage critical production incidents during planned and unplanned events.
Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and support teams during project and production support activities

5 to 8 years and 8+ years of hands-on experience in IBM Infosphere Data Replication (IIDR) / IBM CDC Administration.
Strong expertise in configuring and managing CDC source and target environments.




Extensive experience with IBM DB2 LUW Administration and database support.
Hands-on knowledge of DB2 Warehouse (DB2W) and DB2U platforms.
Strong understanding of Change Data Capture (CDC) architecture, components, and troubleshooting methodologies.
Experience supporting real-time and near real-time enterprise data replication solutions.
Hands-on Kafka administration experience including topics, brokers, partitions, consumer groups, and monitoring.
Strong understanding of database replication concepts, data synchronization, and high availability architectures.
Experience in performance tuning of replication processes and database workloads.
Robust SQL skills and database troubleshooting capabilities.
Experience with Linux/Unix operating systems and shell scripting.
Knowledge of database backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and failover processes.
Experience with enterprise monitoring and alerting tools.
Familiarity with ITSM tools such as ServiceNow for incident, problem, and change management.
Experience managing production support activities in large-scale enterprise environments.
Knowledge of security, audit, compliance, and vulnerability remediation processes.
Experience with cloud-based database and data integration environments is an added advantage.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities.
Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and documentation skills.
Ability to lead technical discussions and mentor support teams.
