About Floor Signal

Retail's shop floor is one of its biggest blind spots.

Every day, thousands of conversations happen between sales staff and customers — but almost none of that interaction becomes usable data. Floor Signal is building in-store conversation intelligence to change that.

We capture real conversations through a smart badge worn by frontline staff, transcribe them, and use AI to analyse each interaction against the retailer's own metrics and checklists. The goal is to give retail teams a layer of insight that currently sits beneath their sales numbers — across conversion, customer experience, training, inventory, HR and product.

Where we are

- This isn't a zero-to-one idea sitting on a whiteboard.
- We've already built a working end-to-end prototype covering the audio pipeline, AI analysis and live platform. The badge hardware is sourced, and we're moving into live pilots.

We're now looking for a Technical Lead / Founding Engineer to take what we've built from prototype to a reliable, scalable product.

What you'll build

You'll own the technical architecture across the entire product:

Audio → Transcript

- Build a provider-agnostic transcription pipeline using technologies such as Sarvam, ElevenLabs and others.
- Handle noisy, real-world retail audio.
- Split recordings into individual conversations

Transcript → Analysis





- Build reliable pipelines to run LLMs against conversation transcripts.
- Analyse conversations against each brand's specific checklist and requirements.
- Turn unstructured conversations into structured, comparable data

Analysis → Dashboard

- Build the backend and infrastructure powering the client platform
- Surface insights through dashboards, reports and alerts

Build systems that can operate reliably at scale. You'll own the architecture end-to-end and play a key role in building the engineering team as we scale.

Who we're looking for

We're looking for a robust full-stack or backend engineer who has built products from 0→1 and wants to step into a true technical leadership role.

You don't need to have experience in every part of our stack. What matters is that you're technically strong, highly hands-on and excited by difficult, real-world problems.

Experience with audio, speech, voice AI or conversational AI would be particularly valuable.

This is an early technical hire, so we're looking for someone who wants to build the technology function, not simply join one.
