JOB DESCRIPTIONSenior Site Civil EngineerCompany: South Hold Contracting Pvt. Ltd.

Location: Chennai / Tamil Nadu – Project Sites

Employment Type: Full-Time

Department: Projects / Site Execution

Reporting To: Project Manager / Project Head

1. Job PurposeThe Senior Site Civil Engineer will be responsible for the overall site execution, supervision, coordination, quality control, safety, and timely completion of civil construction and renovation projects.

The role requires strong technical knowledge, hands-on site experience, team management skills, and the ability to coordinate effectively with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams.

- 2. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Site ExecutionPlan, supervise, and monitor day-to-day civil construction activities.
- Execute works as per approved drawings, BOQ, specifications, method statements, and project schedule.
- Ensure proper construction sequence and workmanship at every stage.
- Supervise RCC, masonry, plastering, waterproofing, flooring, painting, roofing, structural repair, renovation, and finishing works.
- Identify site constraints and resolve technical issues in coordination with the Project Manager/Consultant.
- Ensure proper utilization of manpower, materials, tools, and equipment.
- B. Drawing & Technical CoordinationStudy and understand architectural, structural, MEP, and other project drawings.
- Coordinate with consultants for drawing clarifications and site requirements.
- Identify discrepancies between drawings and actual site conditions.
- Prepare and communicate RFI / technical clarification requirements wherever necessary.
- Ensure that construction is carried out only as per approved drawings and specifications.
- C. Quality ControlEnsure compliance with approved quality standards and project specifications.
- Inspect incoming materials and ensure approved materials are used at site.
- Coordinate concrete works, cube testing, material testing, waterproofing tests, and other required inspections.
- Maintain quality records, inspection requests, test reports, and checklists.
- Ensure proper curing, surface preparation, reinforcement fixing, formwork, concrete placement, and finishing.
- Monitor workmanship and immediately rectify defective or non-conforming work.

Quality must be demonstrated through proper execution, inspections, testing, and documented test results.

- D. Planning & Progress MonitoringPrepare daily and weekly work plans in coordination with the Project Manager.
- Monitor actual progress against the approved project schedule.




- Identify delays and implement corrective measures.
- Maintain daily site progress reports with photographs.
- Track manpower, materials, equipment, and work fronts.
- Support preparation of weekly and monthly progress reports.
- E. Quantity & MeasurementVerify quantities executed at site against BOQ.
- Maintain daily measurements and quantity records.
- Check subcontractor measurements and work completion.
- Support preparation and verification of RA bills / progressive bills.
- Identify variations and additional works and maintain proper records.
- Coordinate with the QS/Estimation team regarding measurements, variations, and billing.
- F. Site Team ManagementSupervise Site Engineers, Junior Engineers, Supervisors, Foremen, and workers.
- Allocate daily responsibilities and work targets to the site team.
- Monitor productivity and workmanship.
- Conduct regular toolbox meetings and technical briefings.
- Ensure proper coordination between civil, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, fire-fighting, and other services.
- G. SafetyEnsure all site activities comply with approved safety procedures.
- Conduct regular toolbox talks and safety briefings.
- Ensure proper use of PPE and safe working practices.
- Report unsafe conditions, incidents, and near misses immediately.
- Coordinate with the safety team/client representatives for corrective actions.
- H. Client & Consultant CoordinationCoordinate professionally with the client, consultant, architect, PMC, and other stakeholders.
- Attend site meetings and communicate project progress and technical issues.
- Maintain proper documentation of instructions and approvals.
- Ensure client/consultant comments are implemented within the required timeline.
- I. Material & Resource ManagementPrepare material requirements based on project schedules and work fronts.
- Coordinate with the purchase/store team for timely material availability.
- Monitor material consumption and minimize wastage.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of construction materials.
- Track site equipment, tools, and other project resources.

3. DocumentationThe Senior Site Civil Engineer shall maintain and submit:

- 4. Required QualificationsB.E./B.Tech/Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution.
- Minimum 5–8 years of relevant site experience for Senior Engineer level.
- Experience in building construction, renovation, commercial, institutional, school, CSR, or infrastructure projects will be preferred.
- Solid knowledge of civil construction methods and materials.
- Knowledge of reading architectural and structural drawings.
- Good knowledge of MS Excel, AutoCAD, and project documentation.
- Knowledge of quantity measurement and BOQ is preferred.

- Government or semi-government projects
- Working with consultants/PMCs and maintaining project documentation

7. Performance ExpectationsThe Senior Site Civil Engineer will be expected to ensure:

The engineer will be accountable for site progress, workmanship, manpower productivity, material utilization, documentation, coordination, and timely escalation of project issues.
