Key Responsibilities

- Perform detailed quality checks on XML-tagged content against defined DTD/XSD schemas and style guides

- Validate XML files for well-formedness, schema compliance, and adherence to industry standards (JATS, DocBook, DITA, BITS, NLM, etc. as applicable)

- Identify, log, and track tagging errors, structural inconsistencies, and metadata discrepancies

- Conduct output validation across formats (HTML, ePub, PDF) to confirm XML renders correctly downstream

- Develop and maintain QC checklists, error-tracking logs, and quality benchmarks for the product

- Work closely with XML developers/production teams to communicate defects and verify corrections

- Analyze recurring error patterns and recommend process or training improvements to reduce defect rates

- Support root-cause analysis for quality escapes and contribute to corrective action plans

- Assist in defining and refining QC workflows and acceptance criteria for new content types introduced by the product

- Maintain documentation of QC standards,



common error types, and resolution guidelines

- Provide sign-off on XML batches before release/delivery

Required Skills & Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, English, Library Science, or related field

- 47 years of experience in XML quality control within a publishing/content technology environment

- Robust working knowledge of XML, DTD/XSD schemas, and validation tools (oXygen, XML Spy, or similar)

- Familiarity with industry schemas relevant to the product (JATS, DocBook, DITA, NLM, BITS)

- High attention to detail with strong error-detection and pattern-recognition skills

- Understanding of XSLT output and how tagging errors affect multi-channel rendering

- Experience using QC tracking tools/spreadsheets to log and report defects

- Good written communication skills for defect documentation and team coordination
