Key Responsibilities

- Design and architect XML content models, DTDs/schemas, and workflows for the new product

- Lead end-to-end XML conversion, tagging, and validation processes

- Develop and optimize XSLT transformations for multi-channel output (print, web, ePub, mobile)

- Collaborate with product managers to translate business requirements into technical XML specifications

- Guide and mentor a team of XML developers/analysts; review their output for quality and standards compliance

- Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., JATS, DocBook, DITA, BITS) as relevant to the product

- Troubleshoot and resolve complex XML/XSLT issues across the content pipeline

- Coordinate with QA teams to establish validation and testing protocols for XML deliverables

- Evaluate and recommend tools/technologies to improve XML processing efficiency

- Document technical workflows, standards, and best practices for the new product





Required Skills & Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field

- 610 years of experience in XML-based publishing/content technology, with at least 23 years in a lead capacity

- Solid hands-on expertise in XML, XSLT, XPath, XQuery, DTD/XSD schema design

- Familiarity with industry schemas: JATS, DocBook, DITA, NLM, BITS

- Experience with XML editors/tools (oXygen, Arbortext) and CMS/DAM platforms

- Working knowledge of scripting languages (Python, Java, or Perl) for automation

- Understanding of digital publishing formats (ePub, HTML5, PDF)

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

- Experience leading or mentoring a technical team

- Excellent communication skills to liaise with cross-functional stakeholders
