- Job Purpose To independently manage and control the complete workshop operations, including manufacturing, fabrication, assembly, MS & plastic component production, inventory movement, manpower, job work and dispatch, with a strong focus on productivity, quality, cost control and timely delivery.
- Key Responsibilities

A. Production & Workshop Management

Plan and control daily, weekly and monthly production activities.

Allocate manpower and machines according to production priorities.

Ensure production targets are achieved within defined timelines.

Monitor machine utilization and workshop productivity.

Maintain proper production records and reports.

Identify bottlenecks and take corrective actions.

B. Manufacturing / Fabrication / Assembly

Supervise MS and plastic component manufacturing.

Monitor fabrication activities and assembly work.

Ensure drawings, specifications and required quality standards are followed.

Coordinate between different production activities.

Reduce material wastage, rework and production errors.

C. Job Work Management

Coordinate all outside job-work activities.

Issue proper material to job workers against approved requirements.

Maintain material sent/received records.

Track job-work quantity, quality, cost and delivery time.

Ensure no material is lost, damaged or unaccounted for.

Verify job-work bills before submitting them for approval.

D. Inventory & Material Control

Control inward and outward movement of workshop materials.

Maintain proper stock of raw materials, components, WIP and finished goods.

Ensure every material movement is documented.

Coordinate with Purchase and Stores departments.

Conduct regular physical stock verification.

Identify excess, shortage, slow-moving and damaged inventory.

E. Manpower Management

Allocate work to workers according to skill and workload.

Monitor attendance, discipline and productivity.

Identify manpower requirements.

Train and guide workers wherever required.

Ensure proper utilization of manpower.

Report performance issues to management.

F. Quality Control





Ensure products are manufactured according to approved specifications.

Establish inspection/checking points during production.

Reduce rejection, rework and customer complaints.

Identify root causes of recurring production problems.

Maintain quality-related records.

G. Maintenance & Safety

Ensure machines, tools and equipment are properly maintained.

Prepare preventive maintenance schedules.

Immediately report machine breakdowns and major maintenance requirements.

Maintain workshop safety standards.

Ensure workers use appropriate safety equipment and follow safety procedures.

H. ERP / MIS & Reporting The manager must ensure that all workshop activities are properly recorded in the ERP system.

- Daily Responsibilities

Conduct morning workshop meeting.

Review pending orders and production priorities.

Allocate manpower.

Check material availability.

Review production progress during the day.

Follow up on outside job work.

Check quality and quantity.

Review dispatch requirements.

Submit end-of-day production report to management.

- Weekly Responsibilities

Prepare weekly production plan.

Review production efficiency.

Review job-work performance.

Review inventory and material consumption.

Review machine maintenance.

Review manpower productivity.

Identify major problems and submit corrective-action plan.

- Candidate Profile

Education

Diploma / B.E. Mechanical preferred

Production / Manufacturing background preferred





ITI + robust practical experience can also be considered

Experience

5–10 years in manufacturing / workshop / production operations

Experience in fabrication, assembly, MS components or plastic components preferred

Experience handling outside job work is highly desirable

ERP knowledge is an advantage
