We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Workshop Manager to lead the workshop and fleet maintenance operations in Uganda.The role will oversee preventive and corrective maintenance, breakdown management, workshop planning, spare parts, inventory, technicians and workshop safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the workshop and maintenance team.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for trucks, trailers, buses, light vehicles and other company assets.
- Oversee corrective maintenance, servicing, inspections and major repairs.
- Ensure all repairs are completed according to manufacturer specifications and company standards.
- Diagnose recurring mechanical problems and implement corrective/preventive measures.
- Coordinate emergency breakdown and recovery services.
- Ensure rapid deployment of technicians and required spare parts during breakdowns.
- Analyse breakdown trends and identify measures to reduce repeat failures.
- Coordinate field repairs and recovery of vehicles where required.
- Prepare regular reports on fleet availability, downtime, maintenance costs and workshop productivity.
- Track key maintenance KPIs and recommend improvement actions.
- Maintain accurate records of preventive and corrective maintenance.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelors Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum 8-10 years of experience in vehicle/fleet maintenance or workshop operations.
