What StockFox is building
StockFox is an AI-powered stock research app for Indian retail investors .
Most stock scores are essentially weighted screeners: ROE + P/E + momentum → a number.
We are building ours the way a buy-side analyst thinks .
Every company is classified by business type, valued using appropriate metrics, checked for accounting and governance red flags, and analysed for what could move earnings next. Management promises are weighed against their actual track record, and rules are tested on point-in-time data before going live.
AI can analyse thousands of companies in the time an analyst reads one. But it may not notice a CFO dodging a question on receivables, management repeatedly missing guidance, or a cheap-looking stock sitting at peak earnings.
That is where you come in.
You will work directly with Aniket Kulkarni, Head of AI Equity Research , to build, validate and improve the research behind StockFox.
This is an investing role, not a report-writing role.
What you will do1. Build & check the scoring engine — ~1/3 of your time
- Research companies through annual reports, results, con calls, filings, presentations and credit-rating reports.
- Review StockFox scores and identify where the engine is right, wrong or missing context.
- Work with Aniket to turn investment judgement into repeatable scoring rules and sector-specific KPIs.
- Cross-check AI/extracted data against primary sources and critically review back tests.
1. StockFox Picks — ~1/4
- Research shortlisted companies and help narrow them to 20–30 Picks.
- Build investment theses covering earnings triggers, valuation, forensic checks, risks and what would prove the thesis wrong.
- Track Picks through results and con calls and document post-mortems when a thesis fails.
1. Build & run baskets — ~1/5
- Help build model portfolios around position sizing,
sector limits, liquidity and rebalancing.
- Track drawdowns, concentration and benchmark performance and participate in portfolio reviews.
1. Decide what users read — ~15%
- Turn complex research into clear explanations for retail investors without dumbing it down.
- Ensure every important number and conclusion is traceable to its source.
1. Research records — remaining time
- Maintain research notes and source logs so every call can be traced back to evidence.
You own your work and reasoning; Aniket signs off on what ships.
What we're looking for
- 2+ years of Equity Research / Fund Management experience , preferably with an RA, IA, PMS, AIF or family office.
- Strong fundamental analysis: financial statements, notes to accounts, auditor reports, RPTs, contingent liabilities and cash flows.
- Ability to build financial models and value different businesses appropriately.
- Judgement around management quality, governance, moats and capital allocation.
- Strong Excel and comfort with concepts such as base rates, drawdowns and survivorship bias.
- Intellectual honesty: you change your view when the evidence changes and can explain where your thesis went wrong.
- Clear written English, high ownership and comfort working independently in a remote startup.
A graduate degree is required. NISM Series XV is not mandatory at application ; if you don't currently hold it, you should be willing to clear it within two months of joining. Valuable to have: CA/CFA/FRM, technical analysis, Python/SQL/Excel automation, experience using AI for research, sector expertise, and a personal equity portfolio you can discuss—including mistakes.
This role is not for you if
- You want to write reports and hand them over.
- You need detailed instructions before starting.
- You believe AI cannot do research—or that AI can do it alone.
What you get Hands-on exposure across:
Company Research → Scoring Architecture → AI Research → Backtesting → Stock Selection → Portfolio Construction
Your rules go into the engine and your work shapes what investors see. As the research team grows, strong performers can take on significantly greater ownership.
