Position: Welder – Maintenance & 5S

Job Location: Manufacturing Plant

Job Objective To perform welding, fabrication, repair, and modification activities related to plant maintenance, workplace improvements, and 5S implementation, ensuring safe, effective, and well-maintained manufacturing facilities.

Key Responsibilities

1. Welding & Fabrication Works

- Carry out Arc Welding (SMAW), MIG Welding, or other applicable welding activities as per plant requirements.
- Fabricate and repair metal structures, supports, frames, brackets, and fixtures.
- Perform welding repairs on damaged equipment guards, platforms, railings, racks, and other plant infrastructure.
- Execute cutting, grinding, drilling, and basic metal fabrication activities.
- Read and understand basic fabrication drawings, sketches, and measurements.
- Ensure proper alignment, dimensions, and quality of fabricated components.

2. Maintenance Support

- Attend welding and fabrication-related maintenance requests from production and maintenance teams.
- Repair and modify machine guards, safety barriers, handrails, and protective structures.
- Support maintenance teams during equipment modification and facility improvement works.
- Carry out minor structural repairs to doors, gates, storage racks, and utility supports.
- Assist in shutdown maintenance and special fabrication projects as required.

3. 5S Activities

- Support implementation and maintenance of 5S practices across the manufacturing plant.
- Fabricate and install material storage racks, tool stands, shadow boards, and designated storage fixtures.
- Prepare and install safety signboards, equipment identification plates, and floor marking supports.
- Assist in creating designated areas for tools, materials, scrap, and waste segregation.
- Repair and maintain damaged storage structures, safety barricades, and workplace fixtures.
- Ensure work areas are kept clean, organised,



and free from welding scrap and hazardous materials after completing jobs.

4. Safety & Compliance

- Follow all plant safety procedures and permit-to-work requirements.
- Use appropriate PPE, including welding helmet, gloves, safety shoes, and protective clothing.
- Ensure proper housekeeping before, during, and after welding activities.
- Follow hot work permit procedures and maintain fire safety precautions.
- Inspect welding machines, cables, gas cylinders, and tools before use.
- Report unsafe conditions, equipment defects, and potential hazards to the supervisor.

5. Documentation & Reporting

- Maintain records of completed welding, fabrication, and repair activities.
- Report daily work progress and pending maintenance requests.
- Inform supervisors about material requirements, welding consumables, and tool requirements.
- Coordinate with maintenance and production teams for job completion.

Required Qualification & Skills

- ITI / NCVT / SCVT in Welder Trade or equivalent technical qualification.
- Knowledge of Arc Welding, MIG Welding, gas cutting, and basic fabrication techniques.
- Ability to operate welding machines, grinders, cutting tools, and measuring instruments.
- Basic knowledge of metal types, welding rods, and fabrication materials.
- Understanding of industrial safety procedures and 5S practices.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing plant environment.

Experience 2–5 years of relevant experience in industrial welding, maintenance fabrication, or manufacturing plant support activities preferred.

Pay: ₹23,000.00 - ₹28,000.00 per month
