Role

Purpose To drive overall warehouse and logistics efficiency through process improvement, technology, cost optimization and performance management, ensuring that the warehouse functions as a commercially efficient and technology-enabled operation.

The role will focus not only on day-to-day warehouse management but primarily on improving the way the warehouse operates — through better processes, manpower productivity, inventory controls, technology, space utilization, logistics planning and cost management. The position will work closely with Stores, Production, Purchase, Dispatch, Finance and Operations seniors, taking ownership of cross-functional improvement initiatives and ensuring that operational improvements translate into measurable cost savings, productivity gains, improved service levels and better working-capital efficiency. Key Responsibilities

- Process Efficiency & Operational Excellence Review the complete warehouse-to-dispatch process and identify operational inefficiencies, bottlenecks and unnecessary activities. Map existing processes and develop improved workflows, SOPs and control mechanisms. Identify opportunities to reduce waiting time, movement, handling, duplication, manpower dependency and process delays. Drive continuous improvement projects with measurable before-and-after results. Establish standard operating practices across warehouse activities. Benchmark productivity and introduce improved methods of working. Build a culture of process discipline, measurement and continuous improvement.
- Techno-Commercial Optimization Evaluate warehouse processes from both technology and commercial perspectives. Identify where technology, automation or system integration can reduce manpower, errors, processing time and operating costs. Prepare cost-benefit analysis / ROI assessments for proposed technology and process improvements. Evaluate RF/RFID, barcode, WMS, ERP integration, tracking and automation opportunities. Work with IT/vendors to implement commercially viable technology solutions.



Ensure that technology investments result in measurable improvements in productivity, accuracy, visibility or cost. Continuously identify opportunities where process redesign can deliver savings without compromising service levels.
- Warehouse Productivity Establish productivity standards for warehouse activities such as receiving, put-away, picking, packing, material movement and dispatch. Monitor output per manpower hour, activity-wise productivity and resource utilization. Identify under-utilized manpower, equipment and warehouse capacity. Improve warehouse throughput through layout redesign, workflow improvement and resource optimization. Develop productivity dashboards for management review. Drive measurable improvement in warehouse output without proportionate increase in manpower or cost. The candidate has demonstrated experience in doubling warehouse throughput through workflow and operational reengineering, making productivity improvement a particularly relevant area for this role.
- Inventory Efficiency & Working Capital Work with the Stores team to improve inventory accuracy, visibility and control. Drive systematic cycle counting and stock reconciliation. Analyse stock variances and identify root causes. Identify slow-moving, non-moving, excess and obsolete inventory. Improve inventory turnover and reduce unnecessary inventory holding. Review inventory from a working-capital and business-cost perspective, not only from a physical stock-control perspective. Improve synchronization between Purchase, Stores, Production and Dispatch to optimize material availability.
- Logistics & Transportation Cost Optimization Analyze transportation costs, routes, vehicle utilization, loading efficiency and transporter performance. Identify opportunities for route optimization, load consolidation, vehicle utilization and freight-cost reduction. Review transporter contracts and commercial terms in coordination with Management/Purchase. Establish logistics cost KPIs and monthly trend analysis. Identify recurring causes of premium freight, partial loads, waiting charges and avoidable transportation costs. Develop and implement cost-saving initiatives with measurable financial impact.



The candidate's CV demonstrates a 35% logistics-cost reduction through routing and fleetutilization improvements and additional savings through vendor restructuring and contract renegotiation.
- Space & Capacity Optimization Analyse warehouse capacity, storage density and movement patterns. Improve warehouse layout based on SKU movement, frequency, size and operational requirements. Optimize storage locations and reduce unnecessary material movement. Assess future capacity requirements and identify expansion or redesign requirements. Ensure available warehouse space is utilized commercially and operationally effectively.
- ERP / WMS / Automation Drive effective utilization of ERP/WMS systems across warehouse operations. Identify gaps between physical processes and system processes. Improve real-time inventory visibility and transaction accuracy. Explore RF/RFID, barcode, QR, scanning and automation solutions. Develop dashboards and MIS for productivity, inventory and logistics performance. Lead system/process improvement projects with IT and external technology partners. Ensure technology adoption is supported by proper SOPs and employee training. The candidate's CV specifically lists SAP, Oracle, Dynamics 365, Manhattan SCALE, RF/RFID, barcode/QR systems and warehouse automation experience.
- Techno-Commercial Vendor Management Evaluate warehouse equipment, technology, logistics and service vendors from a technical as well as commercial perspective. Compare vendor proposals based on functionality, reliability, lifecycle cost and ROI. Participate in negotiations for logistics, equipment, automation and technology solutions. Monitor vendor performance against agreed SLAs and commercial commitments. Identify opportunities for contract optimization and recurring-cost reduction. Build long-term vendor strategies for critical warehouse and logistics requirements.
- Cross-Functional Process Integration Improve coordination between Purchase → Stores → Production → Dispatch → Logistics. Identify process gaps occurring at departmental handovers. Establish explicit ownership and timelines for each critical process. Conduct cross-functional reviews of recurring operational problems. Eliminate duplicate work and information gaps between departments. Ensure that operational decisions consider the total cost and impact on the complete supply chain, rather than optimizing one department in isolation.
