Key Responsibilities

- Perform routine microbiological investigations as per established laboratory protocols.

- Receive, identify, label, and process clinical specimens such as blood, urine, sputum, swabs, body fluids, and other samples.

- Prepare and maintain culture media, reagents, and laboratory solutions.

- Operate and maintain microbiology laboratory equipment.

- Perform antimicrobial susceptibility testing as per approved procedures.

- Maintain accurate records of test results, worksheets, registers, and quality-control documentation.

- Follow proper specimen handling, storage, and disposal procedures.

- Monitor and maintain appropriate laboratory infection-control and biosafety practices.

- Perform internal quality control and report any deviations to the concerned supervisor.





- Assist Microbiologists/Pathologists in routine and special investigations.

- Ensure timely processing and reporting of samples.

- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laboratory and work areas.

- Follow hospital policies, SOPs, NABL requirements, and applicable safety standards.

Technical Skills

- Knowledge of microbiological culture techniques.

- Positive understanding of staining procedures and culture media.

- Knowledge of antimicrobial susceptibility testing.

- Familiarity with laboratory equipment and automated microbiology systems is an advantage.

- Basic computer and laboratory information system (LIS) knowledge.
