Job Purpose To provide safe and efficient nursing care to patients undergoing echocardiography and related cardiac diagnostic procedures. The ECHO Nurse will prepare patients, monitor vital signs, assist cardiologists and echo technicians during procedures, maintain patient safety, and ensure appropriate documentation and infection-control practices.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare patients for Echocardiography, Stress Echo, TEE/TOE and other cardiac diagnostic procedures as applicable.

- Verify patient identity, clinical history, allergies, medications and relevant investigations before the procedure.

- Explain the procedure to patients and provide appropriate pre- and post-procedure instructions.

- Monitor and record vital signs, SpO, ECG and patient condition before, during and after procedures.

- Assist the cardiologist/echo team during diagnostic and stress echocardiography procedures.

- Establish and maintain IV access when required and administer medications as prescribed and within hospital protocols.

- Assist during contrast/bubble studies and pharmacological stress procedures as per competency and physician instructions.

- Monitor patients receiving sedation or medications and promptly identify and escalate any adverse reactions or clinical deterioration.

- Maintain readiness for emergency management, CPR and resuscitation during procedures.

- Ensure emergency equipment, oxygen, suction, crash cart and essential medications are available and functional.





- Maintain strict infection-control, hand-hygiene and patient-safety practices.

- Ensure proper cleaning, disinfection and readiness of equipment and procedure areas.

- Complete nursing documentation, procedure records, medication records and patient monitoring charts accurately.

- Coordinate with cardiologists, cardiac technicians, nursing staff and other departments for smooth patient flow.

- Assist with patient positioning, transfer and transportation whenever required.

- Maintain patient privacy, dignity and confidentiality at all times.

- Report equipment malfunction, incidents, adverse events or abnormal patient findings to the concerned senior/physician immediately.

- Participate in quality improvement, audits, training and departmental activities.

- Perform any other duties assigned by the Nursing In-charge / HOD.

Qualification

- GNM / B.Sc. Nursing from a recognized institution.

- Valid nursing registration with the applicable State Nursing Council.

- BLS certification preferred.

Experience

- 13 years of clinical nursing experience preferred.

- Experience in Cardiology / Echocardiography / ICU / CCU / Cath Lab / Procedure Room will be an added advantage.

- Freshers with positive clinical knowledge and relevant training may also be considered, depending on hospital requirements.
