ABOUT THE GLOBAL VOICE The Global Voice is an independent news channel and media house, covering the world for a global English-speaking audience from an Indian perspective.
We built TGV because most global coverage of the world runs through a Western lens by default. We think India has a distinct, credible point of view on how the world works, and that view deserves a serious, well-reported news channel, not just op-eds and hot takes. If that's a gap you've felt watching the news yourself, this is a newsroom built for you.
This is an in-office anchoring role. You will be the face of TGV's video journalism on YouTube and Instagram, presenting both short-form content (Reels and Shorts) and long-form content (explainers, analysis segments, and news bulletins) across geopolitics, conflict, markets, technology, and culture.
This isn't a read-the-teleprompter job. You'll be working closely with our research and editorial team, understanding every story you present, and breaking it down in your own words. Your grasp of the subject and your credibility on camera are what make our videos worth watching.
We're open to two kinds of people for this role: working anchors, presenters, or video journalists with a track record, and journalism, mass communication, political science, international relations, or related graduates who know current affairs deeply and have proven on-camera ability, even without a newsroom background.
JOB ROLE: Video News Anchor
EXPERIENCE: 2-4 years
Work from Office: 6 days from our Goa HQ
This role is not open to freshers directly. Every fresher joins through a 2-month paid internship first, with a scope to be converted to full-time based on performance.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Anchor daily short-form news videos (60–90 second Reels and Shorts) on breaking and trending stories for Instagram and YouTube
- Present long-form video content for YouTube, including in-depth explainers, analysis segments, and news roundups
- Cover all major regions including India, Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Africa, the Americas,
and Oceania, with the Indian lens front and centre
- Understand every story you present. Work with our research and editorial team to shape scripts so they're accurate, sharp, and sound like you
- Shoot on fast turnarounds when major stories break. News doesn't wait, and neither do we
- Pitch story and video ideas. You are expected to spot what is worth covering, not wait to be told
- Track what's working on YouTube and Instagram, from audience comments and retention to formats and trends, and use it to make every video better
- Meet daily shoot and delivery deadlines, every day, without being followed up
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- At least 2-4 years of experience in anchoring, presenting, video journalism, or digital news content, with a showreel or published videos to prove it
- You are genuinely passionate about current affairs, the kind of person who's already following the story before anyone assigns it to you
- You are an avid consumer of serious international journalism and analysis. Not because your job requires it. Because you love it
- You have a strong, credible on-camera presence. Calm authority over hype
- You have excellent spoken English with transparent pronunciation, good voice modulation, and natural expression
- You can explain complex global issues simply without dumbing them down
- You are equally comfortable holding attention for 60 seconds in a Reel and for 15 minutes in a long-form explainer
- You are comfortable with teleprompters, memorised talking points, and speaking off the cuff when needed
- You know current affairs, world politics, markets,
and history well enough to present them with authority and a genuine point of view
- You have proof of work: a showreel, YouTube or Instagram videos, news segments, anything that shows you can present complex subjects clearly on camera
- You can join us in Goa immediately
WHO WE ARE NOT LOOKING FOR
- People who are new to being on camera. We need people who have proven on-screen experience
- People who read scripts without understanding what they're saying
- People who chase hype and theatrics over credibility
- People who need a lot of hand-holding to figure out what to cover next
- People who treat deadlines as suggestions
- People uncomfortable with multiple takes and direct feedback
OUR HIRING PROCESS
We keep our process simple, transparent, and respectful of your time. Here's what to expect:
Step 1: Apply
Submit your application (Don't forget to add your showreel or links to your video work in the resume)
Step 2: Skill Assessment
If your profile is a good fit, you'll receive a skill assessment from
[email protected]. You'll have 24 hours from the time you receive it to complete and submit it. You'll be asked to record a short-form news video and a brief long-form segment on current stories, shot on your phone.
The test is designed to give us a real sense of your skills, so we encourage you to approach it as you would actual work and refrain from using AI. Your work remains entirely yours. We will not use, edit, or publish any part of your submission.
You're free to use it elsewhere.
Step 3: Interview with the Founder
If your assessment aligns with what we're looking for, you'll be invited to an interview with our founder. This is a conversation both ways: we'll discuss your work, your approach, and how you see yourself contributing to TGV, and you'll have the chance to ask us anything about the role, the team, and where we're headed.
Please keep an eye on your inbox (and spam folder) for emails from
[email protected] at each stage.
