UAT Test Engineer (Insurance Domain)

Job Overview

We are looking for a Senior UAT Analyst with strong hands-on experience in the Property & Casualty (P&C;) insurance domain to lead and execute User Acceptance Testing for core P&C; systems — including policy administration, claims, billing, and rating engines. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring that delivered solutions meet business and regulatory requirements before go-live.

Key responsibilities

- Lead end-to-end UAT planning, test strategy design, and execution for P&C; insurance applications — Policy Administration, Claims, Billing, Rating/Underwriting, and Reinsurance systems.
- Collaborate with Business Analysts, Product Owners, and SMEs to translate business requirements into detailed UAT test scenarios and test cases specific to P&C; lines (Auto, Home, Commercial Property, General Liability, Workers' Compensation, etc.).




- Design and maintain UAT test plans, test scripts, traceability matrices, and entry/exit criteria.
- Coordinate UAT cycles with business users, SMEs, and IT teams; manage sign-offs and go/no-go decisions.
- Validate P&C-specific; business rules such as policy issuance, endorsements, renewals, cancellations, rating/premium calculation, claims FNOL (First Notice of Loss), claims adjudication, and reserve/settlement processing.
- Test rating engine changes and ensure accuracy of premium calculations across states/jurisdictions (rate, rule, and form filings).
- Identify, log, track, and retest defects using tools like JIRA, HP ALM/Quality Center, or Azure DevOps.
- Conduct regression testing to ensure new changes do not impact existing P&C; workflows (renewals, mid-term endorsements, claims processing).
- Prepare UAT status reports, dashboards, and executive summaries for stakeholders and leadership.
- Mentor and guide junior UAT testers/business analysts on P&C; domain-specific testing practices.
- Support data validation for policy, claims, and billing transactions across systems (e.g., Guidewire ClaimCenter/PolicyCenter/BillingCenter, Duck Creek).
- Liaise with vendors/third-party administrators (TPAs) and reinsurers during integration and UAT phases.
- Ensure compliance with state regulatory filing requirements, audit requirements, and data privacy standards throughout testing.

Required Skills & Experience

- 6+ years of overall QA/UAT experience, with at least 4+ years specifically in P&C; insurance.




- Solid functional knowledge of P&C; insurance processes: policy lifecycle, underwriting/rating, endorsements, renewals, cancellations, claims management (FNOL to settlement), and billing.
- Hands-on experience testing core P&C; platforms.
- Proven experience writing detailed UAT test cases, test scripts, and business scenarios based on BRD/FRD, especially for multi-state rating and form/rule filings.
- Working knowledge of SQL for backend data validation of policy, claims, and billing data.
- Experience with defect management and test management tools (JIRA, HP ALM, Zephyr, TestRail, Azure DevOps).
- Familiarity with P&C-specific; lines of business: Personal Auto, Homeowners, Commercial Property, General Liability, Workers' Compensation, Umbrella/Excess.
- Understanding of state insurance regulatory requirements and filing compliance (DOI regulations, ISO forms, NAIC guidelines).
- Strong stakeholder management skills — ability to coordinate with business users, IT, actuarial, and vendors.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Experience with Agile/Scrum methodology and UAT within sprint cycles.

Good to Have

- ISTQB or equivalent testing certification.
- Exposure to test automation tools (Selenium, UFT) for regression support.
- Experience with P&C; core system migrations/conversions (e.g., legacy to Guidewire migration).
- Knowledge of API/interface testing between rating, policy, billing, and claims systems.
- Experience with catastrophe (CAT) modeling data validation or reinsurance treaty testing.
- Prior experience with US P&C; carriers or MGAs (Managing General Agents).

Educational Qualification

- Bachelor's degree in Insurance, Business Administration, Computer Science, or related field.
- P&C-specific; certifications (e.g., CPCU, AINS, API) are a plus.
