ABOUT SHRAMIK SATHI

Shramik Sathi is a workforce compliance platform for India's factories and construction sites. Frontline workers use it to find jobs and manage their own records, while employers run hiring, attendance, payroll, statutory registers and grievance redressal on the same system. The platform is used by 600+ people today.

Our users are not the people most software is designed for: a welder checking his payslip on an entry-level Android phone in bright sunlight, or an HR clerk moving from a paper muster roll to a digital one. If that sounds like an interesting design problem, we would like to hear from you.

ABOUT THE ROLE

You will own the design of defined product areas end to end: problem definition, user flows, high-fidelity screens, and design review of the built product. The platform has 51 screens across seven roles (job seeker, employee, supervisor, HR, payroll manager, auditor and administrator). All interfaces are bilingual (Hindi and English) and designed mobile-first for low-to-mid range Android devices.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Design complete user flows for one or more roles, from problem statement to production-ready screens
- Work within our existing design system (colour tokens, type scale, radius scale, surface and motion rules) and propose improvements where it falls short
- Design mobile-first interfaces, with desktop layouts for administrative roles
- Design bilingual screens, accounting for Devanagari text expansion
- Specify all interface states: empty, loading, error, partial-permission and success
- Apply accessibility standards: contrast, touch target size, focus states and screen-reader labels
- Prepare handoff documentation and review the implemented build against your designs
- Take part in usability sessions with real workers and HR staff, and revise designs based on what you learn

REQUIRED SKILLS





- Figma to a professional standard: component libraries, variants, auto-layout, constraints and prototyping
- Design systems and token-based design (colour, spacing, typography, radius)
- Wireframing, information architecture and user flow mapping
- Mobile-first and responsive design, including breakpoint strategy
- Data-dense interfaces: tables, registers, multi-step forms and dashboards
- Accessibility fundamentals (WCAG 2.2 AA): contrast ratios, 44px touch targets, keyboard navigation
- Usability testing methods, and turning findings into design changes
- Qualified proficiency in Hindi and English, written and spoken A design degree is not required. Strong work is.

NICE TO HAVE

- Working knowledge of HTML and CSS, especially Tailwind CSS
- Familiarity with shadcn/ui and Radix UI primitives
- Exposure to React or Next.js sufficient to review built interfaces
- Experience designing for multilingual or low-literacy users
- Motion and micro-interaction design; Figma Dev Mode
