The Trainee .NET Developer role at SKO Systems provides hands-on experience in the development, testing, and maintenance of the complete backend of SKO's enterprise products, spanning both the .NET application layer and the underlying database layer. Trainees are placed within a product team, where the initial focus is on understanding the product and its data model before moving on to focused technical work.

Ideal candidates are freshers with solid programming fundamentals, working SQL knowledge, a foundational understanding of software development concepts, and a robust willingness to learn. The role involves close collaboration with senior developers, product teams, QA, and DevOps, offering practical exposure to the full development lifecycle while steadily building technical proficiency and professional confidence.

Learning & Product Familiarisation

· Learn the product, its core modules, data model, and third-party integrations.

· Understand how business logic is distributed between the .NET layer and the database layer.

· Update technical documentation and data dictionaries as needed.

· Participate in sprint demos and team meetings.

· Collaborate with Product Managers and UI/UX teams.

.NET Application Development

· Develop and maintain applications using .NET Core, C#, ASP.NET, MVC, Web API, and Entity Framework.

· Implement features and resolve bugs with guidance.

· Participate in estimation and sprint planning.

· Follow coding standards and best practices.

· Deliver assigned user stories with support from senior team members.

Database Development & Query Writing

· Write, test, and optimise SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and functions under guidance.

· Assist in designing and updating database schemas, tables, and ER diagrams.





· Implement business logic in the database layer where the product design requires it.

· Support data migration, transformation, and integration tasks.

· Follow database naming conventions, change control, and best practices.

Debugging & Troubleshooting (Application & Database)

· Identify and resolve issues across the application and data layers with support.

· Use debugging and profiling tools (e.g., Visual Studio Diagnostics, query execution plans, log analysis) as directed.

· Assist in identifying and addressing application and query performance bottlenecks.

· Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement.

Quality Assurance (Code & Data)

· Participate in code and database change reviews, and refactor as needed.

· Write and maintain unit and integration tests with guidance.

· Help ensure data consistency, integrity, and quality across environments.

· Follow best practices to maintain both code and schema quality.

CI/CD & Workflow Automation

· Support the development and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions).

· Support database deployment and release activities alongside application releases.

· Use monitoring and logging tools as directed.

Cross-functional Collaboration

· Work with designers, product managers, QA, database, and DevOps teams.

· Participate in sprint planning,



code reviews, and bug triaging.

· Troubleshoot issues across the stack with support from senior team members.

Technical Documentation & Agile Participation

· Document technical solutions, data models, and dependencies.

· Apply Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).

· Prioritise tasks and track progress.

· Maintain release notes and change logs, as needed.

Requirements

Minimum Education

Bachelor’s Degree

Field of Education

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent relevant experience.

Required Certifications

Not required; Microsoft Learn, .NET, or SQL and database certifications are advantageous.

Required Years and Area of Professional Experience

Fresher / 0 years; internship, academic project, or self-learning exposure in .NET, backend, or database development will be an added advantage.

Critical Technical Skills

· .NET (primary): Basic knowledge of C#, ASP.NET Core, MVC, REST APIs, Entity Framework, HTML/CSS, and Git.

· Database (secondary): Working knowledge of SQL, including joins, aggregation, stored procedures, views, indexing basics, and ER modelling.

· Common: Debugging concepts across both the application and data layers.

Other Requirements
