- Conduct internal research on current and existing legislation to assess applicability to the company.
- Review general industry practices to support applicability decisions.
- Coordinate with external compliance partners to obtain compliance checklists where required.
Compliance tool monitoring
- Ensure all mandatory legislations are captured and monitored in the compliance tool.
- Generate monthly compliance reports categorizing items as complied, non-complied, and late complied, and circulate them to respective departments for action.
- Update the system monthly for store openings/closures, jobber units, and user additions/removals.
- Map new compliance requirements in the tool to align with changing business and regulatory needs.
On-ground compliance review
- Conduct surprise visits to operating units as part of the review process.
- Verify mandatory requirements such as safety displays, fire compliance measures, and other regulatory obligations.
- Prepare detailed post-visit reports outlining observations, gaps, and non-compliance, and share them with the responsible department/individual for closure.
Skills &
Competencies Required
- Basic understanding of Indian statutory, labour and regulatory compliance Factories Act, Shops & Establishments, Maternity benefit Act, fire and safety norms, environmental laws, IT and privacy law and GST/accounts-related tax statutory compliance .
- Strong research ability to interpret legislation and assess applicability.
- Familiarity with compliance management tools/software.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and Word for reporting and documentation.
- Good written communication for preparing reports and coordinating with departments.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in tracking compliance status.
- Ability to coordinate with external vendors and internal stakeholders.
- Organize, deadline-driven, and able to manage recurring monthly cycles.
