Role Description The Tool Room - VMC Setter is a full time, on-site role based in Chennai, responsible for setting up and operating VMC machines for precision machining activities within the tool room. Day-to-day tasks include preparing fixtures and tooling, loading and adjusting programs, setting offsets, and ensuring components are produced to required dimensions and surface finish. The role involves performing basic troubleshooting on machines and tools,



conducting in-process inspections using appropriate measuring instruments, and maintaining tool room equipment in good working condition.

The Tool

Room - VMC Setter collaborates with production and engineering teams to meet daily machining targets, supports continuous improvement initiatives, and adheres to safety, quality, and housekeeping standards.

Qualifications

- Candidates should possess strong machining skills, including VMC setting, operation, and basic CNC program understanding.

- Candidates should possess troubleshooting skills for machine issues, tooling problems, and dimensional deviations.

- Candidates should possess effective communication skills for coordinating with production, engineering, and quality teams.

- Candidates should possess training and mentoring skills to support skill development of junior operators or new team members.

- Candidates should possess project management or workflow coordination skills to plan jobs, prioritize tasks, and meet production deadlines.

- Diploma or ITI in Mechanical, Tool & Die, Production, or a related discipline, with relevant experience in VMC/tool room operations.

- Hands-on experience with precision measuring instruments (e.g., vernier calipers, micrometers, dial gauges, height gauges) and interpretation of engineering drawings.

- Knowledge of cutting tools, tool selection, speeds and feeds, and basic preventive maintenance practices for VMC machines.
