About the Role
We are looking for a Testing & Support Engineer to join our technical team. The candidate will be responsible for testing, troubleshooting, installation support, commissioning, maintenance, and technical support of solar weather monitoring systems (WMS), sensors, data loggers, communication devices, and related field equipment.
The role requires both technical troubleshooting skills and good communication, as the engineer will coordinate with customers, site engineers, OEMs, calibration teams, and internal R&D; teams to resolve technical issues.
Key Responsibilities
1. Sensor & Equipment Testing
- Testing and verification of different sensors used in Solar WMS systems.
- Testing of:
- GHI / DHI / DNI Pyranometers
- PCCD sensors
- Rain Gauges
- Temperature Sensors
- Relative Humidity & Temperature Sensors (ATRH)
- Wind Speed & Wind Direction Sensors
- Atmospheric Pressure Sensors
- Module Temperature Sensors
- Soiling Sensors
- Lightning / related monitoring equipment
- Verify sensor outputs such as 0–5 V, 1–5 V, pulse/frequency and RS485/Modbus.
- Perform basic sensor calibration checks and output verification.
2. Data Logger & Communication Troubleshooting
- Testing and troubleshooting of data loggers and WMS systems.
- Configure and troubleshoot RS485, Modbus RTU, TCP/IP and Ethernet communication.
- Check sensor communication using tools such as Modbus Poll and other diagnostic software.
- Troubleshoot communication parameters including:
- Slave ID
- Baud Rate
- Parity
- Stop Bits
- Register Address
- Timeout
- Response delay
- Troubleshoot GSM/GPRS/4G and network-related communication issues.
- Basic understanding of TCP, HTTP, FTP and MQTT communication.
3. Installation & Site Support
- Provide technical support during WMS installation and commissioning.
- Verify sensor wiring, polarity, grounding, termination, and communication connections.
- Support site engineers during troubleshooting activities.
- Conduct remote troubleshooting sessions with customers and site teams.
- Travel to project sites when required for installation, testing, inspection or troubleshooting.
4. Fault Finding & Root Cause Analysis
- Analyze sensor and logger data to identify abnormal readings.
- Perform systematic troubleshooting of hardware and communication issues.
- Identify probable root causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Coordinate with OEMs for unresolved technical issues.
- Follow up with OEMs until the issue is resolved.
- Maintain records of complaints,
troubleshooting activities and final resolutions.
5. Testing & Quality Verification
- Perform incoming and outgoing inspection of sensors and equipment.
- Verify equipment functionality before dispatch to site.
- Conduct testing after repair/replacement.
- Prepare testing reports and inspection reports.
- Verify sensor readings against expected/reference values.
- Support calibration-related activities and coordinate with calibration teams.
6. Technical Documentation
- Prepare:
- Service reports
- Testing reports
- Inspection reports
- Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
- Troubleshooting reports
- Site visit reports
- Customer/OEM communication
- Maintain proper records of equipment, serial numbers, test results and service history.
- Update support logs and pending-action status.
7. Customer & OEM Coordination
- Communicate professionally with customers and site engineers.
- Understand technical complaints and collect required information.
- Coordinate with OEMs for technical investigations.
- Provide customers with regular updates regarding issue status.
- Prepare professional technical emails and service communications.
8. Data Analysis & Excel
- Download and analyse data received from WMS sensors and data loggers.
- Analyse historical and real-time sensor data to identify abnormal readings, missing data, zero values, spikes, fluctuations and communication gaps.
- Perform daily, monthly and period-wise data analysis.
- Calculate and verify sensor parameters, averages, minimum/maximum values, ratios and other required parameters.
- Analyse soiling ratio and sensor performance data where applicable.
- Compare data between different sensors, channels, sites or reference instruments.
- Identify trends and abnormalities from large datasets.
- Prepare Excel-based analysis sheets and technical summaries.
- Maintain and update data tracking sheets for ongoing technical issues.
- Use Excel for sorting, filtering, calculations, conditional checks, charts and data presentation.
- Verify data accuracy before preparing customer reports.
Required Technical Skills
Must Have
- Basic knowledge of electrical and electronics troubleshooting.
- Understanding of DC voltage, current, resistance and signal measurement.
- Knowledge of multimeter and basic testing instruments.
- Basic understanding of RS485 and Modbus RTU.
- Understanding of analog signals such as 0–5 V and 1–5 V.
- Basic computer and Windows troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read wiring diagrams and technical datasheets.
- Good troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.
Good to Have
- Experience with Solar WMS / weather monitoring systems.
- Experience with data loggers.
- Knowledge of Modbus Poll.
- Knowledge of GSM/GPRS/4G communication.
- Basic knowledge of TCP/IP, HTTP, FTP and MQTT.
- Experience with Ethernet/TCP Modbus.
- Knowledge of sensor calibration and measurement principles.
- Basic programming knowledge or experience with logger programming.
- Experience working with Campbell Scientific, Sutron or similar data loggers is an advantage.

- Maintain proper testing and service documentation.
- Provide timely customer and OEM updates.
- Support successful installation and commissioning of WMS systems.
Experience Preferred: 1–3 years in technical support, testing, instrumentation, electronics, solar WMS, data logging, field service or a related field.
Freshers with strong knowledge of electronics, sensors, RS485/Modbus and troubleshooting may also be considered.
Additional Requirements
- Willingness to travel to solar project sites.
- Valid driving license is an advantage.
- Comfortable working in field/site environments.
- Basic proficiency in MS Excel, Word and email communication.

Work Environment The position involves a combination of:
Office Testing + Customer Support + Remote Troubleshooting + Field/Site Visits
Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
