Job Title: Technician I - Composites

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Technician I - Composites to join our Structures (N-CCAV) team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing precision composite fabrication, wet/prepreg layups, vacuum bagging, and component assembly for high-performance aerospace and space-system structures. You will work closely with structural engineers to interpret complex engineering drawings, maintain strict process controls, and ensure all fabricated components meet high standards of quality and mission assurance.

Key Responsibilities

- Fabrication &
- Layup:

Perform hand layup, vacuum bagging, cure setup, and post-cure trimming/sanding for advanced carbon fiber, fiberglass, and core-reinforced composite assemblies.

- Tooling &

- Preparation:

Prepare mold surfaces, release agents, core materials, and plies according to detailed engineering specifications and work instructions.

- Equipment Operation: Operate autoclaves, ovens, heat blankets, CNC trim/router equipment, and precision measuring tools during layup and curing phases.

- Assembly &

- Bonding:

Perform structural bonding, drilling, countersinking, and mechanical fastening of composite structures and metallic fittings.

- Inspection &

- Quality Control:

Perform dimensional checks and visual inspection of composite parts; assist quality teams with non-destructive testing (NDT)



preparation and defect tracking.

- Process Documentation: Maintain detailed manufacturing routers, bill of materials (BOM) tracking, and quality assurance logs throughout the build cycle.

- Safety &

- Workplace Standards:

Adhere strictly to cleanroom protocols, FOD (Foreign Object Debris) prevention guidelines, and workplace chemical/PPE safety standards.

Required Qualifications

- Education: GED, or technical trade certificate in Aerospace, Composites, or Manufacturing Technology.

- Experience: 4 to 5 years of direct experience in aerospace or high-precision composite manufacturing, layup, and structural assembly.

- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of composite material behavior (carbon fiber, prepregs, epoxy resins, honeycomb/foam cores) and cure cycles.

- Blueprints &
- Schematics:

Demonstrated ability to read and interpret 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, ply books, and GD&T; specifications.

- Precision Hand Tools: Proficiency using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, height gauges) and pneumatic fabrication tools.

Preferred Qualifications

- Prior experience working within aerospace, defense, or space-launch manufacturing environments.

- Hands-on experience with cleanroom environments and strict FOD control procedures.

- Familiarity with automated ply cutters or laser projection alignment systems.
