We are looking for an experienced Technical Head – R&D; (Battery/BESS) to lead the technical research, product development, testing, validation, and continuous improvement of battery and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) products. The candidate will be responsible for driving R&D; activities from concept development to prototype, testing, product validation, and commercialization while ensuring performance, reliability, safety, quality, and cost-effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the R&D; and technical development of battery systems, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and related products.
- Drive the complete product development lifecycle, including concept, design, prototype development, testing, validation, and commercialization.
- Develop and optimize battery packs, modules, racks, and energy storage systems based on project and market requirements.
- Provide technical leadership for Battery Management System (BMS) selection, integration, configuration, and optimization.
- Work on battery chemistry, cell selection, pack configuration, capacity, voltage, C-rate, thermal characteristics, and system performance.
- Lead the development and optimization of thermal management, protection systems, electrical architecture, and battery safety systems.
- Coordinate with electrical, electronics, mechanical, software, and testing teams for integrated product development.
- Review and approve technical specifications, design documents, drawings, BOMs, schematics, test procedures, and engineering documentation.
- Establish and monitor testing, validation, reliability, and performance standards for battery and BESS products.
- Analyze test results, field performance, failures, and technical issues and implement appropriate Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and corrective actions.




- Lead product improvement initiatives focused on performance, efficiency, safety, reliability, lifecycle, and cost optimization.
- Conduct technical evaluation and benchmarking of cells, BMS, PCS, EMS, inverters, cooling systems, protection equipment, and other critical components.
- Coordinate with suppliers and technology partners for technical evaluation, qualification, testing, and development of components.
- Ensure R&D; products comply with applicable industry standards, safety requirements, testing protocols, and regulatory requirements.
- Support the development of technical documentation required for certification, testing, customer approvals, and project execution.
- Work closely with the Projects, Production, Procurement, Quality, Sales, and Management teams for successful commercialization and deployment.
- Provide technical support for customer requirements, product customization, and technical discussions.
- Stay updated with emerging battery technologies, BESS architecture, battery chemistry, energy storage technologies, and industry developments.
- Identify opportunities for new products, technologies, patents, process improvements, and cost-reduction initiatives.
- Mentor and develop the R&D; team and establish a strong culture of innovation, testing, documentation, and technical excellence.
- Prepare and present technical reports, project updates, development plans, test results, and management presentations.

Required Technical Skills

- Strong knowledge of Lithium-ion battery technology and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
- Good understanding of cell, module, battery pack, rack, containerized BESS,



and system-level architecture.
- Strong understanding of BMS, SOC/SOH estimation, battery protection, balancing, and communication protocols.
- Knowledge of PCS, EMS, inverter integration, AC/DC systems, and energy management architecture.
- Understanding of thermal management and battery safety systems.
- Experience in battery testing, validation, performance analysis, and failure investigation.
- Knowledge of electrical schematics, wiring, BOM, system design, and technical documentation.
- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with product development, prototyping, and commercialization.
- Knowledge of relevant battery/BESS safety and performance standards will be preferred.
- Working knowledge of engineering/design and data-analysis tools will be an advantage.

Educational Qualification

- B.E./B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, Electronics & Communication, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Energy Engineering, or a related field.
- M.Tech / M.E. in a relevant technical specialization will be an added advantage.

Experience

- 10–15 years of relevant experience in Battery, Lithium-ion Battery, BESS, Energy Storage, Power Electronics, or a closely related industry.
- Candidates with proven experience in R&D;, product development, battery pack development, BMS, or BESS system development will be preferred.

Reporting The Technical Head – R&D; will report to the Management / Business Head and will lead the R&D; and technical development team. Pay: ₹413,084.34 - ₹1,691,817.11 per year
