– TEA BARISTA

Position: Tea Barista

Department: Tea Room / F&B; Operations

Job Purpose The Tea Barista is responsible for preparing and serving high-quality tea and other beverages while ensuring excellent guest service, proper tea presentation, hygiene, and smooth day-to-day beverage counter operations.

The role requires good knowledge of tea varieties, brewing methods, serving standards, and the ability to create a premium and welcoming tea experience for guests.

Key Responsibilities

1. Tea & Beverage Preparation

- Prepare and serve different varieties of tea as per company recipes and SOPs.
- Understand appropriate brewing time, temperature, quantity, and serving method for different teas.
- Prepare hot and cold tea beverages, iced teas, specialty teas, and other approved beverages.
- Ensure consistency in taste, quality, temperature, quantity, and presentation.
- Prepare beverages according to approved recipes and presentation standards.
- Handle tea leaves, herbs, milk, syrups, garnishes, and other ingredients carefully.

2. Guest Service

- Welcome guests politely and professionally.
- Take beverage orders accurately and ensure timely service.
- Explain tea varieties, flavours, brewing methods, and serving options to guests when required.
- Recommend suitable teas based on guest preferences.
- Maintain a warm, courteous, and premium service experience.
- Handle basic guest queries and escalate complaints to the concerned senior.

3. Tea Knowledge

- Develop good knowledge of the company's tea collection and menu.
- Learn about different tea categories, origins, flavour profiles, brewing methods, and serving styles.
- Stay updated on recent tea beverages and company product offerings.
- Be able to explain the basic characteristics of teas to guests.

Counter & Equipment Management

- Set up the tea/beverage counter before service.
- Maintain cleanliness and proper arrangement of the tea bar.
- Clean and maintain kettles, brewers, infusers, cups, glasses, utensils, and other equipment.
- Ensure all equipment is used safely and correctly.
- Complete opening and closing duties as assigned.

5. Hygiene & Food Safety

- Maintain excellent personal grooming and hygiene.
- Follow all company hygiene, sanitation, and food-safety standards.
- Keep the beverage counter, equipment, storage area, and service area clean at all times.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of ingredients.
- Follow FIFO and expiry-control practices.
- Immediately report damaged, expired, or contaminated ingredients.

6. Stock & Inventory

- Monitor tea, milk, sugar, herbs, syrups, garnishes, disposables, and other beverage supplies.
- Inform the supervisor about low-stock items in advance.
- Assist with daily stock checking and inventory counting.
- Maintain proper portion control and minimize beverage wastage.
- Ensure ingredients are properly stored after use.

7. POS & Billing

- Take orders through the POS system where applicable.
- Handle cash/card/digital payments accurately if assigned.
- Ensure orders are entered correctly and communicated to the service team.
- Maintain proper billing discipline.

8. Team Coordination

- Coordinate with the service,



kitchen, housekeeping, and management teams.
- Support colleagues during peak hours and special events.
- Follow instructions from the reporting manager.
- Maintain discipline, punctuality, teamwork, and professional conduct.

Required Skills & Competencies

- Good knowledge or interest in tea and beverage preparation.
- Strong customer-service and communication skills.
- Good presentation and attention to detail.
- Ability to follow recipes and SOPs accurately.
- Good hygiene and grooming standards.
- Ability to work under pressure during busy hours.
- Team player with a positive and disciplined attitude.
- Basic POS/cash-handling knowledge is an advantage.
- Willingness to learn about premium and specialty teas.

Qualification & Experience

- Minimum 10+2 preferred.
- Diploma/certificate in Hospitality, F&B;, or Barista training will be an advantage.
- 6 months–2 years of experience in a café, tea room, restaurant, hotel, or beverage outlet preferred.
- Freshers with good communication skills and a genuine interest in tea may also be considered.

Work Requirements

- Full-time, on-site position.
- Flexible working hours/shifts as per Tea Room operations.
- Willingness to work weekends and holidays as per roster.
- Ability to stand and work at the beverage counter for extended periods.
