System Administrator

Job Title: System Administrator

Department: Information Technology / IT

Location: Mumbai

Reporting To: Director

Experience: 3–6 Years

Employment Type: Full-Time

1. Job Purpose The System Administrator will be responsible for managing, maintaining, securing, and supporting the organization's IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, systems, end-user devices, applications, and IT security. The role will ensure high system availability, data security, timely technical support, and smooth day-to-day IT operations across the organization.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. System & Server Administration

- Install, configure, maintain and monitor Windows servers and related systems.
- Manage Active Directory, user accounts, access rights, Group Policies, and organizational IT policies.
- Monitor server performance, system availability, storage, and capacity.
- Perform system upgrades, patches, updates, and preventive maintenance.
- Manage virtualization environments and server resources, where applicable.
- Troubleshoot system and server-related issues and ensure timely resolution.

B. Network Administration

- Manage and maintain LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, VPN, switches, routers, firewalls, and related network infrastructure.
- Monitor network performance, connectivity, and availability.
- Troubleshoot network outages, connectivity issues, and access problems.
- Coordinate with Internet Service Providers and external IT vendors for network-related issues.
- Ensure appropriate network access and security controls are implemented.

C. IT Security & Data Protection





- Implement and monitor antivirus/endpoint security, firewall, access controls, and security policies.
- Manage user access, permissions, password policies, and authentication mechanisms.
- Ensure regular security patches and updates are applied.
- Monitor and respond to security incidents in coordination with relevant stakeholders.
- Support data protection, backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity processes.
- Maintain IT security documentation and system records.

D. Backup & Disaster Recovery

- Manage regular backup of critical systems, applications, and business data.
- Monitor backup jobs and investigate backup failures.
- Conduct periodic restoration testing to ensure data recoverability.
- Maintain and update disaster recovery procedures and documentation.

E. User & Desktop Support

- Provide technical support to employees for hardware, software, network, email, printing, and system-related issues.
- Install and configure desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, and other IT peripherals.
- Manage onboarding and offboarding IT requirements, including user accounts, devices, email, and access rights.
- Maintain an inventory of IT assets and ensure proper allocation and tracking.




- Provide remote and on-site technical support as required.

F. Software & Application Support

- Install, configure, and maintain approved software and business applications.
- Coordinate with application vendors for troubleshooting, upgrades, and technical support.
- Monitor application availability and resolve system-related issues.
- Ensure software licenses and renewals are tracked appropriately.

G. IT Asset & Vendor Management

- Maintain an updated inventory of hardware, software, licenses, network equipment, and other IT assets.
- Track warranty, AMC, licenses, and renewal requirements.
- Coordinate with external vendors and service providers.
- Evaluate technical requirements and provide recommendations for IT infrastructure improvements.

3. Key Skills & Competencies

- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Good understanding of Windows Server and/or Linux administration.
- Hands-on knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and user management.
- Knowledge of LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, VPN, Wi-Fi, switches, routers, and firewalls.
- Understanding of backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes.
- Knowledge of endpoint security and basic cybersecurity practices.
- Valuable hardware and desktop troubleshooting skills.
- Vendor and service-provider coordination skills.
- Ability to manage multiple IT issues and priorities simultaneously.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Positive documentation and reporting skills.
