Job Purpose/ Summary





Mechanical Maintenance Engineer is responsible for ensuring the reliability, availability, and productive operation of mechanical equipment in the Steel Melting Shop (SMS.. The role involves planning and executing preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance activities for critical equipment such as converters, EOT cranes, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, pumps, gearboxes, and associated mechanical systems.

The Assistant Engineer in Mechanical Maintenance for the Steel Melting Shop (SMS. plays a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of mechanical equipment. This position requires the planning and execution of preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance activities for critical machinery, including converters, EOT cranes, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, pumps, and gearboxes. The engineer is responsible for maintaining the operational integrity of these systems to support continuous production processes.

The role demands a proactive approach to equipment performance monitoring and the implementation of corrective actions to minimize downtime. Collaboration with Operations and Electrical teams is essential for effective maintenance planning and execution. The engineer must also analyze equipment failures and implement measures to enhance reliability and prevent future issues.

Supervision of technicians and contractors during maintenance activities is required, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. Additionally, the role involves managing spare parts inventory and maintaining comprehensive maintenance records and documentation.

Manage preventive predictive and breakdown maintenance activities for SMS mechanical equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliabilitybr Ensure the smooth functioning of converters EOT cranes pumps gearboxes hydraulic and pneumatic systems through effective maintenance strategiesbr Monitor equipment performance and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and improve operational efficiencybr Coordinate with Operations and Electrical teams to effectively plan and execute maintenance and shutdown activitiesbr Analyze recurring equipment failures and implement reliability improvement measures to prevent future occurrencesbr Supervise technicians contractors and maintenance manpower during maintenance activities ensuring adherence to safety and quality standardsbr Ensure the availability of critical spare parts and maintain accurate maintenance records equipment history and documentationbr Follow safety procedures Total Productive Maintenance TPM practices and company maintenance standards to maintain a safe working environmentbr Support continuous improvement cost reduction and process optimization initiatives to enhance plant efficiency and productivitybr Ensure timely completion of maintenance activities to support production targets and achieve efficient and reliable plant operations
