Job Purpose/ Summary The SUP-Ops-Coating will be responsible for managing and monitoring shift-wise production activities in the Pipe Coating Plant, ensuring safe, effective and quality-compliant execution of coating operations as per approved production plans, customer specifications and applicable standards. The role will focus on achieving production targets, controlling critical process parameters, minimising rejection/rework and material wastage, maintaining equipment efficiency, and ensuring compliance with quality, safety and operational requirements. The incumbent will coordinate with Quality, Maintenance, Planning, Stores and other functions to ensure smooth and uninterrupted coating operations.

The Shift Engineer – Pipe Coating will be responsible for execution and control of day-to-day coating operations, including surface preparation, abrasive blasting, pre-heating, primer/FBE application, adhesive and PE/PP extrusion coating, internal coating, cooling, end preparation, inspection, holiday detection, repair and handling of coated pipes, as applicable to the plant.

The role will ensure adherence to approved process parameters, SOPs, ITPs, customer specifications and applicable international standards. The incumbent will also monitor manpower, equipment, raw material consumption, production performance, quality parameters and shift-wise operational issues, while supporting continuous improvement initiatives for productivity, quality, cost and safety.

Execute shiftwise production activities in alignment with the production plan customer requirements and delivery schedulesbrMonitor and control critical parameters of pipe coating processes to ensure consistent coating qualitybrSupervise activities related to surface preparation blasting preheating FBE 3LPE3LPP internal coating cooling end preparation and repairtouchup as applicablebrEnsure proper surface preparation and required surface cleanlinessprofile before coating applicationbrMonitor coating parameters such as pipe temperature line speed coating thickness extrusion parameters curing conditions and cooling parametersbrEnsure coated pipes meet specified requirements for coating thickness adhesion peel strength holiday detection impact resistance visual quality and other applicable testsbrCoordinate with Quality Control for inspection testing clearance and release of coated pipesbrIdentify coating defects conduct preliminary analysis and implement corrective actions to minimize rejection rework and customer complaintsbrEnsure proper identification segregation and traceability of accepted rejected and repaired pipesbrMonitor consumption and utilization of coating materials such as FBE adhesive PEPP epoxy abrasives and other consumables as applicablebrControl material wastage and support initiatives for optimum material consumptionbrMonitor condition and performance of critical coating equipment and coordinate with Maintenance for breakdowns and equipment abnormalitiesbrSupport preventive maintenance activities and ensure equipment is available for planned productionbrDeploy and supervise shift manpower effectively across different coating operationsbrEnsure operators follow approved SOPs work instructions process parameters and safety practicesbrMaintain shiftwise records for production rejection rework downtime material consumption process deviations and equipment breakdownsbrConduct effective shift handover highlighting production status quality issues equipment problems and pending activitiesbrEnsure compliance with EHS PPE work permit housekeeping and 5S requirements within the coating plantbrSupport investigation of safety incidents near misses and unsafe conditions and ensure corrective actionsbrCoordinate with Planning Quality Maintenance Stores Logistics and Dispatch for smooth flow of operationsbrParticipate in RCA CAPA Kaizen TPM Lean and continuous improvement initiativesbrIdentify opportunities for improvement in productivity coating quality equipment efficiency energy consumption and material utilizationbrSupport trials and qualification of new coating materials processes and technologiesbrEnsure compliance with applicable API ISO NACEAMPP ASTM DIN and customerprojectspecific coating requirements wherever applicablebrProvide technical support during customer inspections thirdparty inspections and internalexternal auditsbrEnsure safe handling storage and usage of coating chemicals powders solvents abrasives and other process materialsbrEnsure timely escalation of major quality safety production and equipmentrelated issues to the Shift Incharge Production Manager
