Role Description The Subtitle Editor role is a full-time remote position responsible for reviewing, editing, and polishing subtitles and closed captions for various types of media. Day-to-day tasks include correcting grammar, spelling, and punctuation, ensuring timing and synchronization accuracy, and maintaining consistency in style, tone, and terminology.

Editor will collaborate with translators, captioners, and project managers to refine subtitle files, address feedback, and align content with localization and accessibility standards. This role also involves checking subtitles against audio and visual cues, performing quality control checks,



and ensuring compliance with client guidelines and platform specifications.

Editor will contribute to creating accessible, culturally sensitive, and audience-friendly viewing experiences for diverse global markets.

Qualifications

- Candidates should possess strong Writing and Subtitles skills for accurate, clear, and context-sensitive subtitle editing.

- Candidates should possess Translation skills to work with multilingual content and ensure faithful adaptation across languages.

- Candidates should possess Closed Captioning skills to handle SDH and CC formats, including speaker identification and sound cues.

- Candidates should possess Communication skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners.

- Attention to detail, excellent grammar and punctuation, and familiarity with subtitle standards and style guides.

- Experience with subtitle editing software and captioning tools (e.g., Aegisub, Subtitle Edit, or similar platforms).

- Ability to work independently in a remote workplace, manage deadlines, and handle multiple projects simultaneously.

- Background in media, linguistics, translation, or film studies is beneficial; prior experience in accessibility or localization is a plus.
