General Summary:
The Proposal Content Designer plays a critical role in supporting the Commercial Sales Division by shaping and telling the story behind our most important pursuits. Engaging early alongside Proposal Managers, sales stakeholders, and peer content roles, this position helps develop the narrative through-line and win themes, then owns the visual translation of that story — designing executive summaries, pitch decks, orals materials, infographics, and leave-behinds that make complex solutions, ROI, and Data Axle differentiators immediately clear to client audiences. Depending on the pursuit, this role may shape the story largely independently or as one contributor on a collaborative pursuit team.
This role ensures every client-facing pursuit artifact is on-brand, visually consistent, and positioned to differentiate Data Axle in competitive pursuits.
Essential Job Functions: *
1. Engage early in the pursuit to shape the story, developing the through-line, win themes, and differentiators that carry a response. Lead this work largely independently on some pursuits and contribute as one voice on a collaborative team with Proposal Managers, sales stakeholders, and peer content roles on others.
2. Storyboard the narrative and visual approach before production begins, so structure and sequence are agreed across the pursuit team.
3. Translate RFP responses, proposals, and solution content into visual narratives — executive summaries, pitch decks, orals materials, and leave-behinds — from concept through final delivery.
4. Design infographics, process diagrams, timelines, and data visualizations that make complex solutions and value propositions land quickly with client audiences.
5. Own visual quality, brand compliance,
and production accuracy across all pursuit artifacts; work within corporate design standards in partnership with Brand and Creative, and manage client submission requirements including page and character limits, mandated formatting, file specifications, and print requirements.
6. Build and maintain a reusable library of templates, layouts, graphics, and design components; establish design standards and a simple intake process so routine responses do not start from zero.
* Essential functions are the basic job duties that an employee must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation. The function is considered essential if the reason the position exists is to perform that function.
Supportive Job Functions: *
1. Provide post-submission debriefs on visual effectiveness and feed learnings back into the template and content library.
2. Support broader marketing initiatives as necessary including go-to-market activity, training programs, corporate marketing programs and content development.
3. Perform additional sales enablement tasks as required by leadership.
*These tasks do not meet the Americans with Disabilities Act definition of essential job functions and usually equal 5% or less of time spent. However, these tasks still constitute important performance aspects of the job. QualificationsKnowledge, Skill, and Abilities:
1. Expert-level PowerPoint and presentation design, with advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).
2. Strong information design instincts, with the ability to take dense written or technical content and identify the visual structure that makes it clear.
3. Excellent visual storytelling ability and a keen eye for brand consistency, layout, and detail.
4. Editorial judgment sufficient to edit and condense written content for visual formats without altering intent or accuracy.
5. Ability to manage multiple, concurrent pursuits under compressed deadlines with shifting requirements, and the judgment to know when to escalate.
6. Ability to operate at both ends of the autonomy range:
carrying a pursuit story independently when needed, and integrating direction and critique as one contributor among peers when the pursuit calls for a team approach.
7. Ability to work cross-functionally and collaborate with diverse teams in a fast-paced environment.
Education, Experience, and Certification: *
1. Bachelor's Degree in graphic design, visual communications, or equivalent experience preferred.
2. 5-7+ years designing complex, deadline-driven presentations and documents; proposal, bid, pursuit, agency, or in-house B2B marketing backgrounds preferred.
3. Portfolio required, demonstrating visual storytelling applied to complex or technical subject matter.
4. Experience working with enterprise sales teams in the marketing technology or data services industry preferred.
5. Experience building and governing a design system, template library, or brand asset system.
6. Experience innovating with AI to improve design workflow, production speed, and content quality.
*Minimum requirements needed to perform the job.
Scope of Job:
1. No direct or indirect reports. Will work across multiple teams to ensure proposal success.
2. No supervisory responsibility: General direction received from [Director, Proposal Management / Revenue Enablement]. Exercises independent judgment on story and design direction, with latitude that varies by pursuit.
3. Working conditions are good, with some travel for sales meetings or industry events, and a consistent workweek.
4. Errors are not always detectible and may be responsible and costly.
5. Contact with others inside and outside the Company is regular and frequent.
6. Some access to confidential company and client data.
