Role Summary The Sr. Software Engineer - II builds and maintains software features as part of an agile engineering pod. This is a senior individual-contributor role combining deep hands-on delivery with informal technical leadership and mentoring.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, test, and maintain application features across the full stack (or assigned layer) per sprint commitments
- Write clean, well-tested, maintainable code following team coding standards and design patterns
- Participate in code reviews - both giving and receiving feedback - to uphold quality standards
- Debug and resolve defects across development, QA, and production environments
- Collaborate with QA/Automation Engineers to ensure adequate test coverage before release
- Contribute to technical documentation (design notes, API docs, runbooks) for owned components
- Participate in sprint ceremonies (planning, stand-ups, retrospectives) and provide accurate effort estimates
- Lead design discussions for medium-complexity features and review peers designs
- Mentor Software Engineers and Sr. Software Engineers - I through pairing and code review
- Identify and drive resolution of recurring technical debt or architectural friction

Required Skills & Technical Competencies

- Strong programming fundamentals in more than one modern language, with Java and JavaScript required (C#, Python, or TypeScript as an additional plus)
- Frontend proficiency (HTML/CSS/JavaScript with a component framework such as React or Angular) or robust backend API development, depending on assignment - beyond basics, with the depth to make design trade-offs
- RESTful API design, consumption, and versioning, with strong command of JSON-based data exchange and contract design
- Strong relational database skills (SQL, indexing, query optimization)



and working knowledge of NoSQL data stores
- Version control with Git and standard branching workflows (GitFlow/trunk-based)
- Strong testing discipline across unit, integration, and regression testing, with ownership of coverage as part of the definition of done
- Good working knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) and containerization concepts (Docker), with the ability to design for cloud-native deployment - not just basic familiarity
- Effective, responsible use of AI coding assistants (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, ChatGPT/Claude) to accelerate delivery while understanding and validating generated code rather than blindly trusting it
- Advanced system design skills (scalability, caching, async processing, distributed systems trade-offs)
- Ability to evaluate and recommend libraries/frameworks for new requirements
- Comfortable representing engineering in cross-functional design discussions with Product/BA

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills

- Exposure to microservices or event-driven systems
- Experience working in a client-facing consulting/staffing environment
- Interest in one specialization track (data, DevOps, AI) for future growth

Qualifications & Experience

- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
- 5-8 years of hands-on software development experience
