Position Summary The Data Lead owns the design, development, operational support, and continuous improvement of SQL Server data integration and reporting solutions. The role combines hands-on technical delivery with technical leadership across SSIS, SSRS, T-SQL, SQL Server Agent, production support, release coordination, and stakeholder communication.
The Data Lead is accountable for turning business requests and support incidents into reliable, tested, documented, and supportable data solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Data integration and SQL development
- Design, develop, enhance, and troubleshoot SSIS packages, file-based integrations, staging processes, stored procedures, tables, and SQL Server Agent jobs.
- Build robust data-load patterns with validation, reconciliation, error handling, audit logging, alerts, and restart/rollback considerations.
- Analyze source-to-target mappings and clarify business rules across systems such as HR, Finance, Fusion, Solver, Sapphire, Land CRM, and Sales CRM.
- Develop and review T-SQL scripts, data fixes, data-migration routines, and operational queries.
- Investigate job and package failures, identify root causes, and implement durable fixes rather than one-time workarounds.
Reporting and analytics support
- Support SSRS and SQL Server reporting solutions, including report datasets, stored procedures, data extracts, scheduling, and production validation.
- Partner with business and analytics stakeholders to confirm report requirements, data definitions, output expectations, and acceptance criteria.
- Validate report and load results through targeted SQL queries, record counts, totals, reconciliation checks, and stakeholder confirmation.
Production support and incident management
- Triage and resolve Teamwork Desk support tickets involving failed integrations, SQL Agent jobs, SSIS packages, database access, data loads, and reporting outputs.
- Monitor recurring failures and operational trends; provide clear incident updates, impact summaries, root-cause analysis, and next steps.
- Coordinate with DBA, application, infrastructure, analytics, finance, HR, and business teams to restore service and close tickets with appropriate evidence.
- Improve alerting and failure-notification logic to reduce noise and ensure that actionable failures are surfaced promptly.
Release, deployment, and change management
- Prepare technical implementation plans, deployment steps, validation plans, backup requirements, and rollback procedures.
- Coordinate code reviews and approvals across development, testing/UAT, and production environments.
- Lead or support deployments of SSIS packages, SQL scripts, stored procedures, SQL Agent jobs, and reporting changes.
- Complete post-release validation, monitor downstream impact, document results, and close Jira work only after acceptance criteria are met.
Technical leadership and collaboration
- Lead work planning and technical status updates for development and support activities.
- Review requirements, designs, test cases, implementation notes, and operational documentation.
- Guide team members through troubleshooting, data validation, deployment readiness, and support-ticket follow-up.
- Communicate technical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Promote reusable patterns, documentation, automation, and improved operational readiness across the data team.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL.
- Strong experience developing and supporting SSIS packages and SQL Server Agent jobs.
- Working experience with SSRS or comparable SQL Server reporting technologies.
- Experience with data integration, ETL troubleshooting, source-to-target mapping, data-quality validation, and production support.
- Ability to perform root-cause analysis across SQL code, package logic, schedules, file movement, database objects, permissions, and environment configuration.
- Experience with structured change management, code review, testing, deployment, rollback, and post-release validation.
- Strong written and verbal communication, ownership, prioritization, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to work effectively across Jira, Teamwork Desk, documentation, and team collaboration workflows.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting enterprise data platforms and cross-functional business systems.
- Exposure to Microsoft Fabric, including Fabric Data Pipelines, Power BI, cloud data integration, or modern data-platform migration is an added advantage.
- Experience with Git/Azure DevOps or similar source-control and release-management practices.
- Experience designing operational monitoring, alerting, audit, and error-handling frameworks.
- Experience mentoring developers or acting as a technical point of contact for a data-support team.
Key Success Measures
- Reliable and supportable SSIS, SQL Agent, SQL, and reporting workloads.
- Accurate, reconciled, and timely data loads and reports.
- Faster incident resolution with clear root-cause documentation.
- Fewer repeat failures through durable fixes, better alerts, and improved controls.
- Predictable deployments with complete testing, rollback, and post-release evidence.
- Effective coordination between the data team, business stakeholders, and partner teams.
