About The Role We are seeking a highly experienced Senior SQL Server Developer to join our dynamic team. This role requires an individual with over a decade of expertise in SQL Server database development, performance tuning, and complex query optimization.

The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of database architecture, strong problem-solving skills, and hands-on experience with payroll systems and calculations. As a key member of our technical team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-performance databases that support critical business functions, particularly within the payroll domain. The position offers an excellent opportunity to work on challenging projects, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to the strategic growth of our IT capabilities.

Qualifications The successful candidate will meet the following qualifications:

- Minimum of 10+ years of professional experience in SQL Server database development and administration.
- Proficiency in T-SQL, including the development of stored procedures, functions, triggers, views, and complex queries.
- Extensive experience in writing and optimizing large,



complex SQL queries for high-volume datasets.
- Deep understanding of SQL Server internals such as indexing strategies, execution plans, and query optimization techniques.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve critical database issues efficiently under pressure.
- Hands-on experience with payroll calculations, payroll systems, or related financial data processing.
- Familiarity with SQL Server versions 2016, 2017, 2019, 2022, and Azure SQL Managed Instance.
- Strong knowledge of transaction management, concurrency control, and error handling mechanisms.
- Experience utilizing AI-assisted development tools like GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or SQL-specific AI assistants for code review and optimization.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.

Responsibilities The key responsibilities for this role include:

- Design, develop, and maintain complex SQL Server databases, ensuring data integrity, security, and performance.
- Write, optimize, and troubleshoot complex T-SQL queries, including joins, aggregations, window functions, CTEs, and dynamic SQL.
- Build, debug, and optimize large-scale stored procedures and functions, ensuring high reliability and efficiency.
- Analyze and resolve critical database issues such as performance bottlenecks, deadlocks, and data inconsistencies.
- Develop and support payroll calculation logic, including wage computations, deductions, overtime,



taxes, bonuses, and integrations with timesheet and payroll systems.
- Implement performance tuning strategies by optimizing query execution plans, indexing, and database configurations.
- Ensure data security through robust transaction handling, error management, and adherence to best practices.
- Collaborate closely with application developers, database administrators, business analysts, and payroll/HR stakeholders to deliver accurate, scalable data solutions.
- Conduct code reviews, mentor junior developers, and promote best practices in database development and management.
