Patel Greentech is subsidiary company of PIL, currently executing 0.70 GW Solar and 1.3 GWh BESS and 0.20 GW Wind projects and has a planned rollout of 3 GW Renewable Energy and 5 GWh BESS over the next three years. Our focus is on reliable, cost-optimized, and sustainable power solutions for energy-intensive industries.

Position Overview:

Responsible for strategic sourcing, techno-commercial evaluation, supplier development and manufacturing partnerships for power cables, raw materials and components. The role will ensure competitive cost, reliable quality, manufacturing capability, capacity and timely supply, while developing a strong supplier and manufacturing-partner network to support business growth.

The incumbent will work closely with Design & Engineering, Production, Quality, Planning, Finance, Business Development and Project teams to establish scalable sourcing and manufacturing capabilities for solar, BESS, wind, grid, and other renewable energy applications.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Sourcing & Procurement

- Develop and implement sourcing strategies for power cables, raw materials, and cable components.
- Identify, evaluate, qualify, and onboard reliable manufacturers and suppliers.
- Build a competitive supplier base for LV, MV, HV, and specialty cables.
- Identify alternate sources, contract manufacturers, and strategic manufacturing partners.
- Develop sourcing strategies aligned with business plans, product development, manufacturing requirements, and project demand.
- Evaluate make-or-buy outsourcing, contract manufacturing, and private-label opportunities.

2. Manufacturing & Supplier Capability Development

- Evaluate suppliers based on manufacturing capability, capacity, technology, equipment, quality systems, manpower, testing facilities, and scalability.
- Conduct factory visits, manufacturing capability assessments, process audits, and supplier evaluations.
- Understand and evaluate key cable manufacturing processes including conductor processing, insulation, screening, cabling, armouring, sheathing, testing, and packing.
- Assess manufacturing capacity and production lead times against business and project requirements.
- Coordinate production trials, process validation, sample development, and first production runs.
- Support development and industrialisation of new cable products.
- Identify manufacturing bottlenecks and work with suppliers to improve capacity, productivity, quality, and delivery.
- Develop reliable manufacturing partners for future business expansion.

3. Supplier Development & Management

- Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers and manufacturing partners.




- Monitor supplier performance against cost, quality, delivery, capacity, and service.
- Drive corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Develop alternate and backup suppliers to reduce supply and business-continuity risks.
- Conduct periodic supplier performance reviews and capability assessments.
- Support long-term supplier development and strategic partnership initiatives.

4. Commercial & Cost Management

- Lead negotiations for price, payment terms, lead time, MOQ, warranty, packaging, logistics, and other commercial conditions.
- Analyse material, manufacturing, conversion, labour, overhead, logistics, and other cost drivers.
- Develop and validate manufacturing and product cost structures.
- Benchmark supplier pricing and identify cost-reduction and value-engineering opportunities.
- Support product costing, budgeting, project costing, and commercial feasibility.
- Evaluate cost implications of design changes, material changes, manufacturing processes, and volumes.
- Monitor material and market price trends and recommend appropriate cost and risk-mitigation measures.

5. Product Development & Industrialisation

- Work closely with R&D;, Design, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams for current product development.
- Support selection of suitable materials, manufacturing processes, and manufacturing partners.
- Coordinate prototype development, sample approval, testing, production trials, and product industrialisation.
- Ensure current products are commercially viable and suitable for scalable manufacturing.
- Support design-to-cost and design-for-manufacturing initiatives.
- Coordinate resolution of technical, manufacturing, and quality issues during product development.

6. Quality & Technical Coordination

- Ensure suppliers and manufacturing partners comply with approved specifications, applicable standards, testing requirements, and customer requirements.
- Coordinate supplier technical evaluations, inspections, testing, and process audits.
- Review technical deviations and coordinate approvals with relevant stakeholders.
- Monitor product quality, process capability, and manufacturing consistency.
- Drive corrective and preventive actions for quality issues and non-conformities.
- Support resolution of customer and field-related quality issues.

7. Production, Supply & Delivery Management

- Ensure timely production and availability of cables and components as per business and project requirements.
- Monitor supplier production plans, manufacturing progress, testing, dispatch, and delivery schedules.
- Track purchase orders and manufacturing commitments from order placement through final delivery.
- Monitor production capacity, material availability, machine constraints, testing capacity, and manpower availability.
- Identify potential supply constraints and implement recovery plans.
- Coordinate with Production, Planning, Quality, Logistics, and suppliers to ensure uninterrupted supply.

Business & Project Support

- Focus on business development and commercial activities by providing inputs on manufacturing capabilities, sourcing options, pricing, production capacity, product availability, and lead time.
- Provide manufacturing and sourcing inputs for project costing, tenders, customer proposals, and commercial decisions.
- Identify sourcing and manufacturing opportunities for solar, BESS, wind, grid, and specialty cable applications.
- Support strategic manufacturing partnerships, contract manufacturing, and private-label business models.
- Assess manufacturing readiness and capacity for new projects and products.

9. Cross-Functional & Management Coordination

- Work closely with R&D;, Engineering, Production, Planning, Quality, Costing, Stores, Logistics, Finance, Sales, and Business Development teams.
- Provide sourcing and manufacturing inputs for product costing, capacity planning, budgeting, and project execution.
- Escalate critical commercial, manufacturing, quality, capacity, and delivery risks to Management with clear action plans.
- Prepare and present sourcing, manufacturing, supplier performance, cost, capacity, and risk reports to Management.

Qualification Education & Experience

- Bachelor’s degree in electrical, Mechanical, Electronics, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related discipline.
- Professional qualification in Procurement, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, or Business Management will be an added advantage.
- 10–12 years of relevant experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, supplier development, manufacturing, vendor management, or related functions.
- Experience in power cables, cable components, electrical products, cable manufacturing, renewable energy, EPC, or related industries.
- Strong exposure to cable manufacturing processes, supplier development, production, quality, and industrialisation.
- Proven experience in supplier evaluation, factory assessments, techno-commercial negotiations, and manufacturing capability assessment.
- Experience in project-based or high-value procurement and manufacturing coordination is preferred.
- Exposure to solar, BESS, wind, grid infrastructure, or specialty cable applications will be an advantage.

Key Competencies

- Understanding of LV/MV/HV cable manufacturing, materials, equipment, testing, and quality requirements.
- Strong supplier development and manufacturing partner management skills.

- Ability to evaluate manufacturing capacity, capability, quality, cost, delivery, and risk.
- Understanding of production planning, process improvement, and product industrialisation.
- Analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, ERP systems, procurement tools, and management dashboards.
- Ownership: Strong accountability for cost, quality, delivery and continuous improvement.
- Willingness to travel for factory visits, supplier audits, inspections, production trials, and manufacturing assessments.
