Neu Edge is looking for a hands-on Software QA Engineer with proven experience testing connected devices communicating with cloud/backend platforms over IP networks.

This is not a conventional web-application QA role.

The candidate must have worked on products where a physical device, embedded system, gateway, router, access point, IoT device or similar equipment communicates with backend/cloud services.

You should be comfortable testing and troubleshooting the complete chain:

Physical Device TCP/IP Network Communication Protocol/API Cloud/Backend Database/Services Application/Dashboard

You must also have hands-on experience building test automation using Python.

Mandatory experience

Candidates should apply only if they have practical commercial experience in all of the following:

- Python test automation: personally written and maintained automated tests using Python, preferably PyTest, Robot Framework or similar.
- TCP/IP networking: hands-on testing and troubleshooting of TCP/IP communication, including IP addressing, TCP/UDP, DNS, DHCP, ports, sockets, HTTP/HTTPS and network connectivity.
- Connected-device testing: testing physical IoT, embedded, edge, gateway, router, access-point or similar connected devices.
- Device-to-cloud testing: tested data or commands travelling between a physical device and a cloud/backend platform.
- Cloud/backend testing: validated backend services, REST APIs, message brokers, cloud services, databases or microservices associated with connected devices.
- Linux: comfortable using Linux command-line tools and analysing device/application logs.
- Network troubleshooting: hands-on use of tools such as Wireshark, tcpdump, ping, traceroute, iPerf, curl, netstat/ss or similar.
- API testing: experience validating REST APIs, authentication, payloads, responses and backend behaviour.
- End-to-end system testing:



ability to independently isolate whether a problem originates in the device, network, protocol, backend, database or UI.

What you will work on

- You will design and execute automated and manual tests for connected-device platforms.
- The role will involve validating device connectivity, provisioning, authentication, telemetry, configuration, command-and-control flows and recovery behaviour.
- You will test scenarios including network interruption, latency, packet loss, reconnection, duplicate messages, delayed messages, device reboot and backend service failure.
- You will develop Python automation covering devices, APIs, backend services and end-to-end workflows.
- You will analyse device logs, network traces, backend logs and API responses to identify root causes.
- You will work with developers, network engineers, DevOps engineers and product teams to reproduce defects, validate fixes and improve release quality.

Technical environment Relevant experience with some of the following would be particularly useful:

Python, PyTest, Robot Framework, Linux, TCP/IP, TCP/UDP, HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, DHCP, Wi-Fi/WLAN, Ethernet, MQTT, WebSockets, REST APIs, SSH, Wireshark, tcpdump, iPerf, Postman, Git, Docker, Jenkins/GitLab/Azure DevOps, AWS/Azure/GCP or private-cloud platforms.

MQTT experience would be especially practical because it is a strong indicator that the candidate has actually worked with connected-device architectures.

This role is unlikely to be suitable if your experience is primarily in:

Selenium/web UI automation without connected-device experience; manual testing only; automotive CAN/UDS/HIL testing without IP/cloud connectivity; telecom OSS/BSS application testing without device/network testing; network administration without software QA; API testing without physical-device integration; or embedded/firmware testing where the product does not communicate with a backend/cloud platform.
