About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled System Software Engineer with extensive systems and networking expertise to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining the core infrastructure that connects HeadSpin's platform to physical iOS and Android devices. Your work will involve owning critical protocols, daemons, and communication layers that facilitate real-device automation, remote debugging, and telemetry collection at scale.

This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology, ensuring seamless device connectivity and data integrity across diverse platforms and protocols.

Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess over five years of experience in systems-level software engineering, demonstrating a deep understanding of network protocols and systems programming. Proficiency in Python and Go is essential, along with hands-on experience with POSIX systems, including sockets, process management,



and multithreading. Candidates should have a solid background in debugging tools such as LLDB, DTrace, Wireshark, or similar low-level diagnostic utilities.

A comprehensive understanding of the network stack, OS internals, and device communication protocols is required. Familiarity with developing REST APIs, WebSockets, RPC/gRPC protocols, and WebRTC will be advantageous. Strong analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to adapt to evolving platform requirements are critical for success in this role.

Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and maintain the device connectivity stack, including USB and network-based sessions utilizing tools like usbmuxd, remoted, and Apple's CoreDevice/RemoteXPC framework.
- Build and enhance low-level communication layers interfacing with iOS internals such as lockdownd, DTServiceHub, and XPC services to ensure reliable device management.
- Create and optimize system-level daemons and services on Linux and macOS platforms responsible for device multiplexing, session management, and protocol translation.
- Work extensively with various transport protocols, including TCP, QUIC, HTTP/2, WebSocket, and RPC,



to facilitate high-reliability device tunneling solutions.
- Collaborate with platform and product teams to expose device capabilities such as screenshots, logs, crash reports, and network HAR captures with low latency and high reliability.
- Stay up to date with Apple's evolving device communication models, such as the transition from usbmuxd/lockdownd to remoted/RemoteXPC in iOS 17+, and adapt the platform accordingly.
