About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Backend Security Engineer to join our dynamic team on a contract basis, dedicating approximately 15 hours per week. In this role, you will play a critical part in designing and developing challenging backend coding tasks aimed at training next-generation AI systems. Your expertise will help create realistic scenarios that test and improve AI models' ability to solve complex backend engineering and security problems.

This position offers the flexibility of work from home and the opportunity to contribute to innovative projects that impact the future of AI and cybersecurity.

Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess strong backend software engineering skills across multiple programming languages such as Java, Node.js, Go, Rust, TypeScript, Python, or C++. You should have experience building scalable backend services and APIs, along with excellent debugging and performance optimization capabilities. A solid understanding of algorithms, data structures, and foundational computer science principles is essential.





Candidates must demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills and be comfortable communicating complex technical concepts in a remote environment.

Preferred qualifications include experience in cybersecurity, SecOps, penetration testing, vulnerability assessments, and familiarity with secure coding standards such as OWASP and CWE.

Responsibilities

- Create and develop realistic, challenging coding tasks involving backend development, feature implementation, debugging, and security-focused problem solving.
- Design tasks that simulate real-world software engineering and cybersecurity scenarios to effectively train AI systems.
- Implement deterministic verifiers capable of accepting valid solutions and rejecting incorrect or incomplete ones, ensuring reliable evaluation of AI-generated code.
- Develop and evaluate backend services, APIs, and software components using languages such as Java, Node.js, Go, Rust, TypeScript, Python, and C++.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve software bugs, performance issues, and system-level problems to ensure robustness and security.
- - Apply secure coding principles and cybersecurity best practices to relevant engineering tasks to uphold high-security standards.
- Conduct code reviews focusing on correctness, security, maintainability,



and performance aspects.
- Refactor existing codebases and implement complex features within large-scale applications to enhance functionality and security.
- Develop automated testing and validation mechanisms to ensure the accuracy and reliability of task evaluations.
- Document technical decisions, solution approaches, debugging strategies, and security considerations for transparency and future reference.
- Collaborate effectively with remote teams, maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy in deliverables.
