We are creating an AI-native platform that helps engineering teams execute the software delivery lifecycle with speed, quality, and control — from planning and implementation to testing, release, governance, and production feedback.

We're looking for a Software Engineer II – Backend who enjoys solving complex engineering problems, designing scalable systems, and taking ownership of backend services from architecture through production.

Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and maintain scalable, reliable, and production-ready backend services.
- Build REST APIs, microservices, integrations, and event-driven backend systems.
- Own backend features end to end, from technical design and implementation to testing, deployment, and production support.
- Design and optimise data models, database queries, caching, and asynchronous workflows.
- Work on distributed systems with a focus on scalability, performance, reliability, and security.
- Collaborate closely with AI, frontend, platform, and product teams to deliver features end to end.
- Integrate third-party services, developer tools, cloud platforms, and AI-powered capabilities.
- Participate in system design, architecture discussions, code reviews, and technical decision-making.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimise production systems.
- Identify technical bottlenecks and drive improvements in backend architecture and engineering practices.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to coding standards, documentation, and best practices.
- Stay current with modern backend, cloud, AI,



and distributed systems technologies.

What We Are Looking For

- 3–5 years of professional experience in backend software engineering.
- Strong experience building and operating production-grade backend systems.
- Strong understanding of system design, APIs, databases, distributed systems, and software architecture.
- Strong programming and problem-solving skills.
- Experience taking ownership of complex features and technical initiatives.
- Ability to make sound engineering trade-offs around scalability, performance, reliability, and maintainability.
- Strong debugging and production troubleshooting skills.
- Comfortable collaborating with cross-functional engineering and product teams.
- Experience mentoring or supporting junior engineers is a plus.
- Interest in AI, developer platforms, cloud infrastructure, and modern software engineering.

Technical Skills

- Strong proficiency in Python, Go, Java, or Node.js/TypeScript.
- Experience building scalable RESTful APIs and microservices.
- Strong understanding of system design, distributed systems, concurrency, and asynchronous processing.
- Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, or similar databases.
- Strong knowledge of database design, indexing,



transactions, and query optimisation.
- Experience with message brokers or event-driven systems such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, NATS, or similar.
- Hands-on experience with Docker and familiarity with Kubernetes.
- Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and production deployment workflows.
- Understanding of observability, logging, monitoring, alerting, and incident troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with cloud security, authentication, authorisation, and secure API design.
- Experience with AI/LLM APIs, RAG, embeddings, vector databases, or AI agents is a strong plus.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development and up-to-date developer tooling is desirable.
