About the Role

Lokmat Times is looking for a Social Media Executive who understands news, Maharashtra politics and current affairs and can turn news stories into engaging social media content.

The ideal candidate should have strong Marathi language skills, a creative writing style and a good understanding of what works across social media platforms.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage and publish daily content across social media platforms, especially Instagram and Facebook.
- Monitor breaking news, Maharashtra politics, current affairs, trends and important developments.
- Convert news stories into engaging social media posts, captions, headlines, Reels and other formats.
- Write creative, engaging and grammatically correct Marathi content.
- Create strong hooks, captions and social media copy that drives engagement.
- Stay updated with the latest social media trends, formats and viral content.
- Coordinate with the editorial/content team to ensure timely publishing of news.
- Adapt news content into social-first formats while maintaining accuracy and credibility.
- Track trending topics and identify opportunities for relevant and timely content.
- Ensure content is published accurately and within tight deadlines.




- Basic knowledge of Canva and AI tools for content creation will be an advantage.

Skills & Requirements
- 13 years of experience in Social Media, Digital Media, Content or News Media.
- Solid understanding of news, Maharashtra politics and current affairs.
- Excellent Marathi language and grammar.
- Strong creative writing and copywriting skills.
- Good understanding of Instagram, Facebook and other social media platforms.
- Strong understanding of social media trends, Reels and short-form content.
- Ability to write engaging captions, headlines and social media copy.
- Good news sense and ability to identify content that will work on social platforms.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced news environment and manage multiple stories under tight deadlines.
- Basic knowledge of Canva and AI content tools is preferred.

Ideal Candidate Someone who is news-savvy, digitally active, creative and naturally plugged into social media trends, with a solid command of Marathi and a transparent understanding of Maharashtra's political and current affairs landscape.
