Role & responsibilities

We're seeking a creative and driven Social Media & Content Specialist to own our brand presence across US-facing social channels and produce engaging content for our online learning portal. This role is perfect for someone who lives and breathes short-form video, understands what makes US teen audiences (ages 13-18) and their parents tick, and is excited about making STEM, robotics, and AI feel fun, accessible, and aspirational.

You'll be the voice of Scratch Robots online planning content calendars, shooting and editing Reels/TikToks/Shorts, designing scroll-stopping graphics, engaging with our community, and helping shape the look and feel of content inside our learning portal.

This is a full-time contractor engagement, working remotely on flexible IST hours. Scheduling tools handle US posting times.

Key Responsibilities

- Social Media Strategy & Calendar: Own the monthly content calendar across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Facebook, and LinkedIn, tailored to US parents and teens (ages 13-18). Plan campaigns around our monthly project drops, school programs, and seasonal moments.
- Short-Form Video & Reels: Conceptualize, shoot, and edit Reels, TikToks, and YouTube Shorts featuring our robotics projects, kit unboxings, build highlights, and behind-the-scenes content.
- Graphics & Carousels: Design engaging graphics, infographics, and carousel posts using Canva, Figma, or Adobe Creative Suite. Maintain consistent brand identity across visual assets.
- Online Learning Portal Content: Create supporting visuals for our learning portal project intro videos, course thumbnails, lesson graphics,

and short promotional clips that get students excited about each project.
- Community Engagement: Respond to comments and DMs, foster a welcoming community of young builders and parents, and highlight student-built projects.
- Influencer & Ambassador Outreach: Identify and reach out to relevant US-based STEM/parenting/EdTech creators. Support our school ambassador program with content kits and templates.
- AI-Powered Workflow: Actively use AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Midjourney, ElevenLabs, Runway, CapCut AI, etc.) to ideate faster, draft scripts and captions, generate visuals, and ship more output without sacrificing quality. We expect this role to be force-multiplied by AI.
- Analytics & Iteration: Track performance, identify what's working, and continuously iterate on content format, hooks, and posting cadence. Share monthly performance reports.
- Trend Spotting: Stay on top of US social media trends, EdTech/STEM creator culture, viral audio, and platform algorithm shifts.

Workload: 4-6 short-form videos per week, 3-4 static/carousel posts per week, plus supporting visual content for each current monthly project drop.

Preferred candidate profile

- 2-5 years of hands-on social media content creation experience, ideally for US, UK,

or other Western markets (D2C consumer brands, EdTech, kids/parenting, or creator economy preferred).
- Strong portfolio of short-form video work Reels, TikToks, YouTube Shorts. Comfortable both behind and in front of the camera if needed.
- Proficiency with CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro / After Effects, Canva, and Figma.
- Comfortable using AI tools as a daily part of your workflow — ChatGPT/Claude for ideation, scripting, captions; Midjourney or similar for visuals; ElevenLabs for voiceovers; Runway, CapCut AI, or similar for video assist. You should be able to use AI to ship 2-3x faster than someone working manually.
- Deep, current understanding of US social media culture, trends, and what resonates with US teens (ages 13-18) and their parents.
- Strong written English with a knack for punchy hooks, captions, and calls-to-action.
- Experience using scheduling and analytics tools (Later, Buffer, Meta Business Suite, TikTok Analytics, etc.).
- Self-starter who can own the entire content workflow end-to-end — idea, script, shoot, edit, publish, engage.
- Familiarity with EdTech, STEM, robotics, or kids/parenting content is a strong plus.
- Reliable internet, smartphone capable of high-quality video capture, and a workspace suitable for self-shot content.

Nice to Have:

- Experience running paid social campaigns (Meta Ads, TikTok Ads).
- Basic motion graphics or animation skills.
- Prior experience working with influencers or running ambassador programs.
- Prior experience at an early-stage startup — comfort with ambiguity and wearing many hats.
