Role Overview

We are looking for a highly detail-oriented and technically proficient Signage & Wayfinding Technical Designer who can translate creative design intent into accurate, practical, and production-ready documentation.

The role sits at the intersection of signage design, environmental graphics, fabrication engineering, material specification, BOQ preparation, costing, and on-site execution . The ideal candidate should be comfortable taking a signage or wayfinding concept from design development through technical detailing, vendor coordination, costing, production, and final installation.

You will work closely with designers, architects, project managers, contractors, fabricators, consultants, and clients to ensure that every signage element is technically feasible, accurately specified, cost-efficient, compliant, and executed to the required quality standards.

Projects may include corporate workplaces, commercial offices, campuses, retail environments, healthcare facilities, hospitality spaces, public institutions, educational campuses, mixed-use developments, and other built environments.

Key Responsibilities1. BOQ Preparation & Quantity Estimation

- Prepare comprehensive Bills of Quantities (BOQs) for complete signage and wayfinding packages.
- Break down signage elements into individual components including substrates, structures, finishes, graphics, illumination, electrical components, hardware, fixing systems, and installation requirements.
- Calculate quantities based on approved drawings, signage schedules, architectural plans, elevations, and site conditions.
- Develop accurate material take-offs for acrylic, ACP, aluminium, MS, SS, brass, glass, vinyl, LEDs, electrical systems, paints, laminates, printed graphics, and other specified materials.
- Prepare measurement sheets and quantity calculations for internal review and tender documentation.
- Ensure BOQs clearly define the scope of supply, fabrication, transportation, installation, electrical work, civil work, and finishing requirements.
- Update BOQs based on design revisions, site changes, value engineering exercises, and approved variations.
- Maintain clear documentation of additions, deletions, and scope changes throughout the project lifecycle.

1. Cost Estimation & Rate Analysis

- Prepare preliminary and detailed cost estimates for signage projects.
- Develop item-wise rate analysis considering raw materials, fabrication processes, wastage, finishing, hardware, electrical components, labour, transportation, and installation.
- Review vendor quotations and compare rates against technical specifications and project requirements.
- Prepare comparative statements for evaluating quotations from multiple fabricators and suppliers.
- Identify opportunities for value engineering without compromising visual intent, durability, safety, or functionality.
- Support the project and commercial teams during tendering, negotiation, and finalisation of vendor packages.
- Maintain updated knowledge of market rates for commonly used signage materials and fabrication processes.

1. Technical Specifications

- Develop detailed technical specifications for all signage and environmental graphic elements.
- Define appropriate substrates, thicknesses, structural systems, finishes, colours, fabrication processes, graphics applications, hardware, and fixing methodologies.




- Specify materials such as:
- Aluminium Composite Panels (ACP)
- Aluminium
- Mild Steel (MS)
- Stainless Steel (SS)
- Brass and other metals
- Acrylic and polycarbonate
- Glass
- MDF/WPC where applicable
- Vinyl and printed graphics
- LED modules and illumination systems
- Paint, powder coating, electroplating, anodising, PVD and other finishes
- Specify appropriate material grades and thicknesses based on indoor/outdoor applications, structural requirements, durability, maintenance, and environmental exposure.
- Prepare specifications for illuminated signage including LED modules, drivers, transformers, wiring, access panels, ventilation, power requirements, and maintenance provisions.
- Define installation and fixing methodologies suitable for different wall, floor, ceiling, façade, landscape, and structural conditions.
- Develop performance requirements covering durability, corrosion resistance, UV stability, colour consistency, weather resistance, fire performance, and maintainability.

1. Fabrication & Shop Drawings

- Prepare detailed fabrication drawings and shop drawings using AutoCAD.
- Develop plans, elevations, sections, details, exploded views, and fixing details for individual signage elements.
- Clearly indicate dimensions, material thicknesses, structural framing, joints, welds, bends, channels, brackets, hardware, access panels, and assembly methods.
- Develop fabrication details for internally illuminated, externally illuminated, non-illuminated, freestanding, suspended, wall-mounted, projecting, and integrated signage.
- Prepare accurate mounting and fixing details based on actual site conditions.
- Coordinate fabrication drawings with structural, electrical, civil, interior, and architectural requirements.
- Review shop drawings submitted by vendors and ensure they comply with approved design intent and technical specifications.
- Identify fabrication or installation risks before production begins.

1. Signage Schedules & Documentation

- Prepare detailed signage schedules covering:
- Sign code
- Sign type
- Location
- Floor/zone
- Dimensions
- Quantity
- Message/content
- Material
- Finish
- Illumination
- Fixing type
- Drawing reference
- Remarks/status
- Establish a explicit coding and numbering system for signage across large projects.
- Coordinate signage schedules with architectural plans and wayfinding location plans.
- Track signage quantities and revisions throughout design development and construction.
- Maintain drawing registers, revision logs, schedules, BOQs, specifications, and approval records.
- Ensure all issued drawings follow defined documentation and revision-control standards.

1. Value Engineering

- Review signage systems to identify opportunities for improved cost efficiency, fabrication simplicity, material optimisation, and installation efficiency.
- Recommend alternative materials or construction methods where appropriate.
- Ensure value engineering recommendations maintain the approved design language and required performance standards.
- Work with designers to balance aesthetics, technical feasibility, durability, and budget.

1. Project Coordination

- Work closely with creative designers, graphic designers, architects,



project managers, production teams, procurement teams, and clients.
- Participate in project coordination meetings and technical discussions.
- Highlight technical risks, incomplete information, dependencies, and potential site issues at an early stage.
- Track technical approvals, samples, mock-ups, drawings, and production milestones.
- Support multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining drawing accuracy and documentation quality.

Skills & QualificationsEducation Degree or Diploma in one of the following or a related discipline:

Experience
- Ideally 3–6 years of professional experience in signage, wayfinding, environmental graphics, interior fit-outs, façade systems, architectural detailing, or fabrication documentation.
- Strong freshers with excellent technical drawing capability, material knowledge, and fabrication understanding may also be considered.
- Experience working with signage manufacturers, design consultancies, interior contractors, architectural firms, or fabrication companies will be an advantage.
